Problem

Why some movies mkv can’t play?

Use 8Player mainly for music

The software delivers features as it promises But, more fine tunes are required for audiophile: 1) Better Library management, mainly sorting such as by (1)Gere then by Album or Artist (2)Support Unicode Cue file format (3) Concurrently play music to Music Server, and to read jpeg and pdf files on Album.

Interface need changes

The interface of 8 Player is text oriented and it is very hard to remember, it would be a lot better if it uses image oriented like iTune does.

Excellent player

I had made step of centralizing my movie collection on a networked hard drive. The software that came with it did allow to stream movies and music but only in a limited way. Then i found 8player. Tried out the free version and was amazed how painless and quick setup was and how crisp movies looked on iPad and iPhone, even through a wireless G network. The player is very zen in its setup, making good use of swipe gestures. Then bought the full version. While you don't get extra features it does allow unlimited use of the player. This evening I found my daughter of 4 years old browsing her Charlie and Lola series. The player shows movies as a text, not as a thumbnail, but that did not prevent her from moving from one episode to the next as the episodes were presented as a list. Happily lazy movie watcher
