I’ve followed Whitney for a while now and finally decided to give alive a try. I’m loving it so far and the videos with the work outs are a helpful guide when trying to figure out placement of feet or hands and how to do the movements properly. I find that the work outs aren’t long or daunting and Im actually excited to work out every day, even doing the mindful mobility stretches on my rest days.
I do really enjoy this app and routine- I’m getting a great work out in and they’re aren’t super lengthy overly complicated schedules. I do wish I could keep track of the weight I was using for each exercise so when I go back to it next time I know if I need to go up or down in weight.
This app has really helped me gain confidence in the gym. I especially love how it seamlessly works with Apple Watches so I don’t have to have my phone on the whole time. I would love to see descriptions of the different movements added to the app. This would make it a lot easier and faster to learn new movements, as opposed to stopping the workout to find a description online. I look forward to future developments of the app!
I was soo excited to switch to Whitney’s training app but unfortunately there are too many cons for me. 1- The app glitches frequently, sometimes the app will quit on its on and I would have to restart the training and add all sets again. 2- The app will also stop my workout on the apple watch so I might end up with 3 20min sessions instead of a full hour. 3- Sometimes it wont save the amount of reps I did if the number is different from the prescribe sets. This absolutely demotivates me from trying to do more reps since “they wont count”. 4- There isn't an option to add warmup sets. This is a big one since my warm ups tend to be 75lbs-155lbs so I want to see them reflected on my overall workout. 5- There isn't a recommended weight paired with sets which makes tracking progressive overload or deload weeks harder. I usually workout based on my training max for each specific movement and having to constantly check my previous weights just puts more work on the user rather than having the app recommend/calculate it for you. Im a huge numbers girly, I track everything and this is not efficient or accurate enough for me to enjoy using it. So sorry, still love you Whit 🫶🏼
I love the App and the progress I have seen since using the app. Which is why I gave it 4 stars. The reason it did not get 5 from me is because you are not able to sub out exercises in the program. Yes, the app shows you alternatives for most of the exercises. However you can’t tap it and have it swap it out. So basically you have to keep track of your weight on the exercise the program wants you to do and hope that you remember the next time you come to it. The other reason I gave this 4 stars is because a lot of the programs do not include abs. I find this annoying because I then have to complete the workout I’m on then start a whole new workout just to get my ab workout in. I wish abs would be incorporated into the programs or future programs she comes up with.
As a gym head, this is a great app to have all the workouts lined out for you! The design is also super cute. The only things I miss from my previous gym app (Strong app) is: • There is no way to reorder exercises once you start a workout; sometimes equipment is being used so I want to switch to the next exercise first to save time • I love how they recommend alternate exercises; I just wish you could select it and it would replace it in the workout log for that session • It would be cool to have the ability to look at a specific exercise and see my history on the weight increases for it over time • Sometimes the weight doesn’t save during workouts which is frustrating This being said I bought a year membership because the programming look solid! I’m excited to try them out!
This app is truly incredible! I downloaded this app after becoming frustrated with little results after being with a personal trainer for almost 2 years and I’ve seen more results in 3 months than I had in that time with a PT. It’s so cost-effective and I love the choices between programs and singular workouts. The colors are as bubbly as Whit’s personality, I love the awards you earn as you go, I love that every move comes with a video AND you get alternate moves in case you need to adjust. This app has truly changed my confidence in the gym and the confidence I have in myself 🩷 The only feedback I have: I think it would be helpful to pair the movement videos with written form tips, where to feel a movement and how to tweak it if you’re feeling it in an area you’re not wanting to to maximize the muscle/mind connection. Some clarity around what counts as a “rep” for more complex moves would be helpful too! I.e. on the straight arm pulldown into kayak row on the Alive program, is one rep pulling to both sides then in front? Amazing and incredible app. Love Whit and this app SO MUCH! 💖
This app is awesome!! Very easy to follow! Especially if you’re a beginner in the gym! This was perfect for me as I’m slowly re-introducing my body back into the gym flow! It definitely helps boost my confidence in the gym as well! I’m giving 4 stars because I wish there were more alternatives to different exercises, especially if you have a smaller gym. It would be great if there were more alternatives! But otherwise 10/10!!
I typically don’t leave reviews, but I had to shout out my love for this app! Not only has it helped me get in shape, but it has also encouraged me to adopt a healthier mindset towards working out. The app design is very user-friendly, and it’s cute too! The workouts are easy to follow, and I love that you can choose an alternative workout if needed. There are many different challenges to choose from, but there is only one ‘at-home challenge’ and a few ‘at-home’ workouts. I’m hoping the app developers add more ‘at-home challenges’ or include ‘at-home’ alternatives in the other challenges. As someone without a gym membership, equipment, or a gym in my area, paying $15 a month doesn’t seem worth it if I can't use the app to it’s full potential.
