One of the best – but who are you writing for?

AP News is without doubt one the leading news sites on the Internet. But I often wonder who the site is thought to serve? English is not my native language, but after having been an exchange student in the US and frequently visited to country, I think I'm pretty much above average. I don't have a noticeable accent and could easily pass for being american. I'm a college educated journalist and hold a master in History. So I also foten come in contact with academic English. Still there are many words used in headlines and copy that I have to look up in order to fully understand them. Words that probably are no problem for someone with a U.S. college education. But for the rest of us the choice of words becomes unncessarily complicated. I mean, there are synoyms and if AP want to be able to reach as big an audience as possible, maybe you should talk to your writers and editors about this.

I have been searching for a good source of news that is not heavily colored by a specific political viewpoint. I finally found this source with its well presented categories, helping me find the information or articles of interest that I believe I can trust.
