Apple Podcasts

Excellent listening found season 5 and was addicted. Working my way back through.

Once you follow too many shows, the app becomes dysfunctional. I am unable to play my podcasts in chronological order or select podcasts from my library. I can only play from the pre-selected “up-next” section that defaults to playing ONLY the latest episodes - thus, making it impossible to listen to shows from the beginning. The only solution I’ve found is removing the app, re-downloading, then waiting a long while for your library to load again (usually incorrectly). I usually have to do this every week or so. It will play chronologically for a while, then it will eventually lose your queue and play a random podcast that’s been released recently. Once this happens, you are unable to change what podcast is playing. Thankfully I have two phones that i can sometimes jump between when one of the podcasts apps stops working.

The Coach Parry Up and Down Podcasts are outstanding. I’ve listened to dozens of them and always found the information and banter to be amazing. If you’re running Comrades you need to be tuned into these guys. I’ll be running Comrades for the first time in 2025. The Coach Parry Team have definitely helped me prepare. THANK YOU.

It takes at least 10 presses on the play button. And waiting for this ridiculously sluggish Apple designed app to even play. The app is terrible anyway, so much mucking around trying to stop it downloading podcasts. Hard to understand and work. Play Next is a mess. With no easy to find window to sort the order or delete. Could be so much simpler. App fails to play after muppet clicks on play icon, yet I have good wifi and other apps open and load so I know this is typical Apple failure to deliver. Come on Apple fix the app, only then I’ll change this rating. And stop fixing things that aren’t broken It could be good, but whoever is in charge of this app has let down Apple big time.

The loading process takes forever

Since the last iOS update, the podcast app no longer podcasts. It is extremely slow and unresponsive. Takes forever to load anything (I mean 15 mins + if that). No longer works well with car play. Not sure how it could be worse if they tried to make it worse. Looking for an alternative.

Awesome

Really find the app annoying to navigate find stuff and is very stop/start between episodes. Series don’t automatically play next episodes. Podcasts are hard to find

Constantly crashing, causing issues every time I use the app without fail. Cannot download any podcasts without the app crashing. Also hard to navigate and needs a lot of development to become more user friendly

It’s almost unuseable - pages load forever, the download function doesn’t reliably work, only when restarting the app. I really wanted to love this app but switching to something else now.
