Avenza Maps Reviews

Glitchy

Jhgckytfkytf on

This app is widely used by Cal Fire, which is weird because it only works on some peoples phones and not others.

Love this app for fighting forest fires!!

LilShaq00 on

Shows exact location with all the fire map info. I Really love camping and I’ve been using it for backwoods camping. It’s an amazing app, will be recommending for anyone doing any sort of camping. 10 out of 10 couldn’t ask for a better free map service.

Best free maps!

Avenza is best. I’ve been using it for YEARS! You can download free us government maps (USGS quads, USFS maps, etc). Basic mapping/GPS features like tracking, waypoints, etc. definitely download. 👍🏼

The maps

The mats are everything I expected is more I couldn’t believe how good the mats were. They were so good that we didn’t get lost no matter which way we turned we were spun around on certain places and we figured it out by using the mats. We are so happy to get mats that are so comfortable to sleep on, that’s great

Stratus

Great app

This is great for Forestry work. Any way we will get a version on Apple Watch?

Legit

I thought these guys were frauds for charging for maps but there are many free ones as well. The GPS location is very accurate even off cell service. Also, the route measuring and location marking are helpful as well. Definitely good to have if you are going off the grid, even if you have a Garmin (I find it easier to navigate to points of interest on a smart phone).

Works well

I think Avenza Maps works well. Good if you don’t want to use paper. It depends on the persons preference and resources.

Air drop issues

~Heartwing~ on

United States

First, you keep changing where buttons are placed, and it really messes with muscle memory. Second, when drawing line or polygon, you used to be able to tap anywhere on the screen to make a segment. That was nice. Now you have to hit a little box. It seemed like an unneeded change. And finally, I’m not sure if it’s something you did or a setting on my phone from my organization, but now when you airdrop a map or layer you have to go digging in the files in your phone, instead of just opening it in Avenza. This is a huge time waster and confusing and hard to figure out. If it was you, please change it back.
