The support is awful. All they do is send canned responses.
Latest version doesn’t allow you to play music if you are in airplane mode when starting the app. You have to be on WiFi then it will play offline. I’ve downloaded all the music. It’s the check for valid license that causes this issue.
Don’t recommend paying for this unless they do a better job at support.
Guessing it’s useful
I’m broke so I can’t buy the subscription, but I thought there would be some way to hit x in the top corner and use it for like a day. Based on the ads I’ve seen I thinks it works.
Enjoyable and effective
This is my main go-to productivity app. I use it like a modified pomodoro session of 30-mins in whatever genre I’m in the mood for and subscribe every year. Pretty remarkable how quickly distractions move to the background and I’m lulled into a flow state.
Latest UI updates are confused - different durations selectable in different parts of the app and no memory of your last session means you have to hop through the several steps just to restart a 20-min session. Less is more here - help me get into the groove more easily! Would be great, and I think easy to implement user preferences for a default category and track time

As a major procrastinator, I was never able to just sit down and do my work unless it was due tomorrow and I had that panic. I saw brain.fm from a YouTube add and was actually curious since it was something that looked liked I could actually use it. I’ve tried other apps or things like this by Spotify or Apple Music but nothing worked until I got this app. I swear that once you start using this app you will be ADDICTED. I started with just using the focus or doing schoolwork and let me tell you it has something for everything. I then found that there were other focus settings like ones for reading or creating or learning or working. I’ve used this app anytime I have something like that and it helps tremendously. Not only does it have different focus settings it also gives you music you like to here or for brains with adhd to help stay especially focused and that has definitely helped too. I’d say they’re music is like when you feed a dog pills. You put the peanut butter or treat around the pill so they taste good but they still eat the pill. It’s the same way we choose our peanut butter or treat so we can like the way the music sounds but it still has that pill that makes us focus or sleep. I’ve also been using this for sleep and it’s a lifesaver too. I’ve fallen asleep sooooo quick have gotten such good sleep and REM and haven’t woken app in the middle of the night at all and that’s just using the deep sleep setting. There’s sooo much customization and I’m BEGGING YOU to get this app if you’re reading this! It WILL change your life. Brain.FM I wanna thank you sooo much for this amazing work that you’ve done! Can’t live with out it
SAHM with severe ADHD. I’ve been using brain fm for at least three years. Primarily use it for focus but the sleep and relax has worked for men as well. It has only gotten better and better over the years with the app having new features and new music more frequently than required (by me anyways, I’m low maintenance lol) One thing I’ve taken for granted is how reliable this app has always been. It just crashed on me and of course it was only in need of an update. That’s when I realized I never left my 5 stars?! So here I am. Better late than never. Big thank you to the Brain FM team <3
I love this app but it stopped working suddenly
Brain fm is wonderful for studying, protecting your ears and sanity from energetic small children and working while also raising small children. Unfortunately it sometimes doesn’t load while your child is having a meltdown in an enclosed space. Thank god for Spotify and rain sounds or I would be dead. 5/5 when it works! Minus two stars for when even the downloaded material won’t play. 😞

I love this app! It does require a subscription but I highly recommend. I have ADD and I struggle with maladaptive daydreaming. I’m a college student and I’m writing a book. I usually used the “deep focus” or the “learning” setting when doing my school work. Then I use the “creativity” setting while writing my book. I’m really not sure how this works but it turns hours into minutes and it makes me very productive. I highly recommend!

Better than
I’m 23 weeks in using this app and it is my most important tool. I came to brain.fm for the variety and I stayed because I found I can actually focus.
I’ve tried several things to calm my monkey mind and give it something to occupy itself with while I work, read or plan. I’ve had a waterfall on my desk physically and monitor virtually , I’ve listened to classical music (thank you Mozart), I’ve listened to white noise, tried brown noise, and I even bought an album with nothing but the sounds of a coffee shop (a favorite by the way) I’ve listened to more audiobooks than I can count(for the more repetitive tasks). I’ve even tried working on my computer in VR to shut out distractions (how much battery do I have left?)
I tried brain.fm because the coffee shop was getting old but I’ve found that (coupled with noise canceling headphones or even regular earbuds), I can sit at the kitchen table in the middle of life happening and still focus on what I’m doing. Where my wife walking by used to throw me off, now I barely notice. It’s almost like VR. I’ve also been attacking my distractibility from other angles but, I was using brain.fm before that.
As I’ve used it I gradually added in or took away certain sounds. I’ve liked what I liked and thumb downed what I didn’t (the evil drone didn’t work for me) I’ve done the meditation, I tried sleep but it pulled a Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon and scared me awake after lulling me off, easily fixable with a thumb down.
Thank you guys for a great app and the work you’ve put into it. If the science is just a scam don’t tell me about it because it’s been working great for me. I suspect there has to be something to the science though because every now and then I stop and realize “I’ve been working on this for 2 hours?”
