Description

With Call a Bike, you are spontaneously and flexibly mobile around the clock. Whether you're on your way to work, after work or on a city trip, with Call a Bike you can rent a bike at any time and anywhere in Germany.

A total of 13,000 bikes are available in over 80 cities. You can also use the app to hire a bike from StadtRAD Hamburg and Lüneburg as well as RegioRadStuttgart.

All bikes are displayed on an interactive map in the app. You can rent them using the QR code or by entering the bike number.

You can pause your journey: simply activate it in the app and close the bike lock.

To return the bike, take it to one of the Call a Bike stations that you can find on the interactive map in the app.

You can view the details and costs of your journeys in your bookings at any time. You can also redeem voucher codes, report damage and manage your customer account here.

Awful App. Don’t use it

Registration is easy. But when you bring the bike back to the station, you can’t end your ride

Kafka-esque cycle scheme

Choose an alternative. This is a poorly thought out and managed service. I installed the app. I entered my details. The verification code never came though. Then my ‘contract’ errored when attempting to load my details. Support never responded. This meant: I couldn’t cancel the contract I couldn’t re-register

Doesn’t make any sense

You can’t rehire the same bike after locking, don’t use this service!

Don’t waste your time

App is useless and they don’t reply to emails to customer services

Awful geolocation = €10

Does not work. Leave bike in correct zone and get a €10 fine! Support don’t respond. Hire an E-scooter - it’s cheaper and faster

Rip off and no support

Their geolocation is so bad that when you leave the bike in the zone, you’ll actually get charged €10 per ride for leaving it outside of the zone. Support doesn’t respond. Also recently they reduced their operational zone in Berlin without telling the clients basically making the subscription unusable. Avoid this incompetent company at all costs. This “service” should cease to exist.

Utter rubbish

Having tried to register 4 times the app eventually worked. Walked to where bikes were located on the map. No bike. Wasted an hour of my life. Utter useless crap

Solid app

After a few months use, and having left the insecure signup process behind, I’m a lot happier with this app. It now seems to work very smoothly and quickly. Having “map” and “list” views makes finding and reserving bikes very convenient. Getting billed monthly for my hires is a nice approach, and better than having to always top-up the account. It also seems to be significantly cheaper than some of the competition.

Works well - impressed

The App works well with a UK mobile number (just enter 0044 as the international dialling code). Very easy to use, bike availability updates instantly, overall a very good user experience.

Won’t activate a UK phone number

The app wouldn’t accept a UK mobile number. Although I registered a UK address it never activated the account. Help? No live chat. The helpline phone number is not recognised. So although it took my €3 it’s useless. Maybe it’s great if you live in Germany but if that’s the target customer, not tourists, epic fail
