Annual license and very poor feature set for my vehicles

I bought this scanner and premium software through the Carly website to program some features on a bmw e46 and a sprinter van. For the price I had no idea this was just an annual license. In summary the feature set was lacking on the e46 and basically unusable on the sprinter van. The bmw programming options are significantly lacking compared to what’s avail thru the factory programmer software. Simple stuff is available but does not allow for more complex features such as day time running lights based on lighting switch position. Do you want your drls on when you have just your parking lights on? I did use it to change the lock behavior but for everything else i’m using the bmw programming software. I have not found it to be very helpful unfortunately. I’m sure it’s fine for reading codes. On the Mercedes sprinter van it is basically worthless for anything but basic codes. None of the live data appears valid and I haven’t been able to modify any settings. The one feature I had hoped would be present (run diesel dpf regen) is not. Overall disappointed, especially now that I just learned I have an auto renewing annual license (yes auto renewing subscription which is hard to cancel!!!) ….just frustrated and disappointed.

It’s a good product with a full line of error codes for multiple products. I own an 02 Porsche 911 and a 23 Macan and a 21 Chevy truck. With the variety I needed something I could trust. So far so good.

Garbage-Absolute Garbage “Beware TOS”

Shady business practices, lack of clarity with models covered, overly expensive. Look elsewhere, what used to be a moderately priced tool has been overtaken by the “subscription” wave. With enhanced tools and repair guides that only work for on a few models. Buy a vehicle specific scan tool for BMW. This is not worth the hassle. Tesla doesn’t even need this tool. The service menu is easy to access and will tell you more than this garbage. Beware of the False Tesla advertising, they only Connect to specific years of Model S & X, but they don’t tell you this prior to signing up for a subscription. Then they won’t cancel afterwards. Beware TOS, your subscription expiration date is not a date to cancel but only a date they recharge your card. Buried in the TOS is a date prior to them recharging you. Bad business practices for a tool that is expensive and not as groundbreaking as it once was. LOOK ELSEWHERE

Save your money

Despite being a great diagnostic tool at one time, this app and the company behind it are both garbage. My app continually crash and the only opens when I delete and reinstall it EVERY USE. I reached out to their “support” and got absolutely zero help. 100$ for something I can barely use.

Unless you have one of the few brands that all functions work, it’s just an overpriced OBDC 2 scanner. And they are a German Co. They hide behind a German return law that stop you from returning it. Ethically corrupt!
