Codea er glimrende både for folk som kan litt programmering og for folk som ønsker å lære. For sånne som meg, som nesten aldri er hjemme, men har med iPad'n overalt er det ikke bare et glimrende verktøy, men et lærerikt leketøy. Codea bruker Lua (scripting), men har mange utvidede funksjoner. Støtte for elektronikken i iPad som gyro, touch, kamera og 3D via OpenGL etc. Bare fantasien setter grenser! Programmet er direkte linket opp mot dropbox som gjør overføring av filer veldig enkelt. Referanse til koder er innebygd om man lurer på noe og fine eksempler på hvordan man bruker de forskjellige funksjonene. Forum med mange lett tilgjengelige nerder om man står fast. Og de jobber kontinuerlig med oppdateringer for å legge til nye funksjoner. 5-stjerners app. og den eneste av sitt slag. Anbefales sterkt.

This is one of the best ways to play with graphics and physics programming. The use of Lua works great, and the latest version of Lua is available (unlike for some other Lua apps). The included samples are well written and the included sample game which involves a robot that can pick up crates is pretty complete and is a fun application all on its own. The code for handling "smoke" in the robot game had a small typo that was easy to fix, and the price for Codea is a bit steep, but it's well crafted and great fun. Perfect for casual Lua programming.

Got me coding again and really made me challenge myself. Some features missing but overall a very pleasant experience. Bit of a learning curve but still very beginner friendly.

This app is amazing for programming and stuff, but it misses some of the basic lua coding, such as easy print and easy io.read. It would be great if you added a classic lua display where you can use lua from the ground up like the other lua apps. Thank you for reading. And keep up the good work!

Noen ganger når jeg er ute på en lang tur uten datamaskinen, begynner jeg å savne koding, så fant jeg Codea. Codea åpnet muligheten til å programmere på bilturer og andre lange turer man ikke orker å ta med datamaskinen på, og det er jo supert. Hvis man liker å programmere anbefaler jeg denne appen sterkt. Og hvis man ikke kan programmere og ønsker å prøve det, så er det fult av gratise compilers på datamaskinen hvis du har lyst til å prøve deg på programmering før du kjøper appen for 70kr.

If like to make programs, then Codea is for you. Simple, easy and powerful. I was searching for an App development tool that actually ran on the iPad itself. Codea is my choice.

Codea is what turns an iPad from an interesting toy into a serious work machine. With it, I can write animations and simulations to demonstrate ideas in lectures and to explore the concepts that I work with in my research. The iPad brings an intuitive interface, and Codea is what means that I can make full use of it. The underlying language, Lua, is simple, and the extra pieces aren't any harder to learn. Inline documentation combined with an online community make it very easy to get started with Codea. This has rapidly become my most used app on my iPad.

if one is fluent in computer programming and likes Lua, this is a funny tool for playing on iPad. Hopefully it will acquire better input/output functionality. The other Lua-app is better in this regard and also runs on iPhone, but Apple axed its GUI functionality...

This app is one-of-a-kind phenomenal. I used to use this as a teen before I had a computer, and I was just brought back here after purchasing a new iPad. I’d recommend this to anyone, personally.

Because… of the reviews and it’s my first time using it but I just tried it out and I think I’m gonna love it! Yay!
