Coursera Reviews

Didn’t receive the certificate I paid for

Treponemaster on

Slovenia

Frustrated and disappointed. I paid for a course (Antibiotic stewardship by Stanford university) & completed all the modules yet didn’t receive any certificate. There isn’t any helpline to help you resolve the issue. There isn’t any (easily identifiable) option to demand a refund. Earlier I finished another course (Understanding clinical research by Klopper) on free version. I didn’t have the option to upgrade to receive the certificate like the help forums promised.

Mastery Learning Great concept

Vick (not nick) Name on

Just learned the term mastery learning. It is studying a subject for as long as you need until you learn it. Imagine being allowed to advance in school based on successfully completing each course. I would complete high school but I would be held back for finger paint. Internet instruction facilitates such learning. And if you can’t get past the “finger painting “, you can drop it. No one needs to know.

Consistent bugs

nonoswervo on

I don’t know what it is with this recent update but there are constant bugs that make the iPad version of this app unusable. For example, videos won’t produce an image but the audio will be there. Another one being how it will attempt to pull up the next assignment while watching a lecture with no kind of input whatsoever. This update has made it extremely frustrating to complete coursework on-the-go and has forced me to have to wait to log into a computer.

Missing some key features

Tommy_Canada on

United States

I remember when Coursera had plenty of courses you could take for free, sure that was limited and you wouldn’t get credit but it was great. That option doesn’t exist anymore it appears. This is not a cheap subscription and I will not pay for a course or access to courses without some free trialing first. Additionally, an obvious feature is missing…why can’t I favorite/save a course for later. I would love to have a tab to look at my top picks!

Great App, but Doesn’t Include Full Experience

sonariq on

United States

Coursera itself is awesome — I’m able to learn a lot of stuff from its programs! The app, though, is limited in its experience as quizzes and specialized modules aren’t available through tablet or mobile devices (there’s also a constant error halting assignments from activating on the app) . Although I have access to a computer, it’s disappointing that I can’t fulfill the entire program on my main device (iPad), especially while traveling. However, the videos work great and the offline downloads are helpful.

Buggy

PBJasper on

United States

Most recent version is super buggy on the iPad. It keeps pulling up a random quiz that I’ve already completed while I’m in the middle of video lectures. Basically unusable because I can only get through about 10 seconds of content at a time.
