Direct Ferries FAQ
Is Direct Ferries free?
Yes, Direct Ferries is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Direct Ferries legit?
🤔 The Direct Ferries app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
I do not recommend booking through this app. You can wait up to 10 days for a confirmation email. If, for example, you go as a group on a motorcycle, it may happen that this application will send you in a few days that your request to buy tickets was rejected, but your friend's ticket was confirmed. But since a few days have passed, no more ferry tickets are available for your friend. Despite the fact that booking through this application is more expensive than directly on the seller's website.
Double check before you pay
I booked a ticket and paid through without insurance because I knew I am going at this time. But that’s not the point, the application add an other ticket when I was looking before, it saved it and put it through the booking I did. I paid for the unwanted ticket £165 and the customer service told me they can’t refund me. The app is simple but DOUBLE CHECK before you paid et get fooled like me.
Very easy to use
Easy to use. Originally downloaded to manage my booking, but have continued to use to book tickets rather than using the website
Charged me but did not confirm my booking
I have been charged £436.49 for a ferry crossing, haven’t been provided with a confirmation email or booking reference, and Brittany Ferries have confirmed that no booking has been made in my name. So Direct Ferries have simply taken my money and done nothing with it, the ferry crossing I’m supposed to be taking is in 24 hours, there’s no telephone number with which to contact them, and I can’t make a complaint as I don’t have a booking reference - because Direct Ferries haven’t provided me with one! Terrible service, avoid and instead just book elsewhere.
Love this app
Used this app many times. Service and prices are totally excellent.
Useless
Useless. No ‘back’ button.
Do not use
What a nightmare. Booked multiple ferries for a trip and was very happy at that stage. Then when trip had to be cancelled within the terms of the flexi and premium tickets it turned into a complete farce. Because they are not linked directly, cancellations do not necessarily get followed through it would seem. Requests via their contact system were not confirmed as received and there was no way to contact them otherwise. Ended up being asked to pay a lot of money. Not happy.
Difficult App to Navigate
This is an awful app. There is no “back” button and so you have to exit the whole app and start again from the beginning. There is a hidden fee when booking: £5.99 for “convenience”. I exited the app, when directly to the ferry operator’s website and avoided this fee.
Waste of money
Trust me, don’t waste your time and money booking anything through this company. I have booked one thing, at a set price, but within a few hours got an email telling me the price has more than doubled; I accepted this, as by that stage I had booked hotels etc and would've lost money by cancelling these. However, the next day, another email from direct ferries with yet another price increase, with no explanation at all. I have emailed several of their email addresses querying this, and didn’t get one response.
On a previous booking, the route and timings were changed by the ferry operator. People I was travelling with who had booked the same tickets direct with the ferry company had been notified about this and received compensation for it. But, as I booked with direct ferries I was only notified about this change days later (by which time hotel prices had increased already) with no compensation at all. Again, I had emailed, and got zero reply.
Direct ferries customer service is appalling. I will never use their company again and would strongly suggest anyone booking any ferry do so direct with the ferry company - you’ll probably get a cheaper price and won’t have to endure the ridiculous “service” that direct ferries claim to offer.
Well designed clean app that's easy to use
Really appreciate the ease of use and the ability to upload booking information when done using the website. Even more helpful would be to have generic information about delays at ferry ports and unusual traffic volumes on access roads that are destination specific.
