Great app.
I reported fraudulent activities happening under my name in January 2022 where fraudulent proof of payments were shared under my name. A few weeks later my account was locked and I tried to communicate with the investing officer Hlulani Maringa and only got one reply from him to say he was busy in a meeting and he will revert back. That was 03 February 2022. I have then made a number of follow ups both with calls and emails especially to him, nothing. This is one of the poor banks with services. It’s the worst bank I have ever used. Even today, July 2024 there is still no reply now findings on the investigations. Useless bank this one. I write a review today because I remembered just how bad a treatment I have received from this bank.

I do like this app generally. And it’s gotten better. I do just find it generally very slow to start up. It’s still better than most. Would love if updates prioritised the loading times being cut, this would really result in a more fluid experience. Right now on 50mb line: 3s on opening at till login button appears. Then on taping and Face ID, 4s till all elements load…. That’s 7s total… and at least 1-2 seconds for each tab or new page to load. And I’ve opened the app earlier today so it’s not an update affecting it which then takes even longer.
This bank loves using bots, which , as we all know ,don’t do any work and waste huge amounts of your valuable time. If you need any issues resolved or want to make any changes you need to eventually get hold of a live operator at a call centre who will be likely and most often pass the buck to another department instead of resolving the issue with one phone call. I have ( in feedback)advised them to use email as a means of communication but they are very hesitant to do so as it obviously has a paper trail and it shows up inefficiencies.
The only thing that annoys me about this app is that for some reason it never picks up on address && e-mail verifications which is annoying because it can lock you out for not having received these. And it’s always having “Real time app updates” when you try logging in, which is annoying because you have access to my WiFi in the background, so why the heck are you not updating in your own time ??? I will say Discovery’s support team via phone is SO helpful, so once again humans come to the rescue when technology fails which I can appreciate. All in all, other then those 2 things, it’s a decent app
You need to make your app work for humans. Do not expect me to stand in a store and blink slowly at my camera like an idiot when I want to check my balance, AND then just pop me back to the login screen. Look at how good the Safair app is, they put effort into making things easier for their customers. The banking side is great so far, just get better app developers.
Ever since I’ve moved to discovery bank app I’ve been having issues with receiving my weekly gameplays, reported the issue in December 2023 and to this day it has not been resolved. When I follow up they tell me that even other Vitality members are experiencing the same problem, that’s not good enough. How can a simple app issue take 6 months and is still unresolved??? Now I have to manually request my plays every week. Do better Discovery Bank, I’m not pleased at all. When you send emails to inquire about these issues, no one responds but if you dare miss a payment of any kind then you receive a call from them.
I’m very happy with the app. You have your moments just like any other bank. The app is very user friendly. Kindly look at the following points. 1. Option to play the lotto and powerball. 2. Option to refresh balances when you’ve had the app open for some time.
I updated to the new version of discovery app and in app authorisation does not work. Tried calling the bank and it requires to verify via the app which defeats the purpose…now I’m stuck. General service in Discovery is getting worse
