Enphase Enlighten FAQ
Is Enphase Enlighten free?
Yes, Enphase Enlighten is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Enphase Enlighten legit?
⚠️ The Enphase Enlighten app has poor ratings and negative feedback. Users seem unsatisfied with its performance or features.
Imagine having no automations or widgets and thinking you’re some kind of “smart” anything.
Want to see the “live status” of your solar panel output? The probability that you will get a connection error is a coin flip. After 2 or 3 tries or quitting and reopening the app you will be able to see your energy production. Weird for an app that’s just a thin wrapper around their website.
Also the scheduling for EV charging is absurdly simplistic. Specify hours on weekdays and weekends you want full charging to happen. Can’t specify how many amps when. Can’t have more than just ONE contiguous set of hours on a weekday and weekend. You can set to “self-consume” but that just goes in steps of 12 amps depending on what your panels are outputting. That is a joke after spending $1,100 on a 48 amp charger that Tesla sells for $450. Enphase needs to figure out how to write software at an IQ higher than 60. See what I did there? Ah well… Edit: I just discovered EV charging schedules can’t cross midnight. If you set an add-on schedule of 6pm to 4am for instance, it will stop charging your vehicle at midnight. I have no words… Oh, by the way, did you know Enphase leaked your personal information if you ever enabled a public site page on your Enlighten profile? Seriously. Your WiFi SSID, phone number, latitude and longitude, and more was actually in a JSON object in the page source if you enabled “public site.” I reported it in March of 2023. They took it down, but it took them a week to do it. After that, you could still see your site name in the page source even if you set your public site to have a private site name. When I reported that they basically said “welp, we’re busy.” Seems problematic since some people use their street address for their site name. Their security team is a joke. Never notified anyone about the breach in March 2023. Probably breaks some privacy or disclosure laws…
They started showing ads
I paid $30k for my system. Don’t show me ads.
App installed but cannot log in
I can login to account online fine, but can’t fix a two year old WiFi connection issue without the app and the app refuses to let me login after repeated attempts to install using the same login and password and resetting multiple times. Very frustrating
It doesn’t work
It’s been problematic since installation. Instead of service to correct it, I get technical lists of things to try that aren’t even specific to what I have.
Optimal Performance
I’m not convinced that the array of panels are working optimally. There is a wide range of production across panels, especially right next to each other.
It should be possible to run performance tests periodically and send a report to the user.
Customer service
Trying to reconnect to Enphase but not able to. Tried to chat with them and got disconnected. Waited to see if they would reconnect with me with no response. Called and the person I was talking to couldn’t help. Horrible customer service.
App now spams ads
Good app although there have been some sever side outages. Recently the app repeatedly spams me with ads to buy Enphase add on product. I didn’t pay for a premium system to have to waste time dismissing ads for the same product over and over again It’s OK to inform me of a new product ONCE. Not every time I open the app
Advertising????
Isn’t it enough that I spent $15,000 on panels and inverters, now I have to get fed advertisements in the app that is necessary to view system status?? Come on people.
It should be illegal to advertise in an App that you use to operate or manage a product or service you paid for. It never ends.
Doesn’t work
Piece of junk. Installed 4 weeks ago and system keeps sending error showing 2 million kilowatts being imported every day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keep being told it takes a week to be on line correctly 4 th time we were told that. Utility company also is showing no solar produced and a larger than normal electric bill…..
Fix your system. Or inform customers that it doesn’t work
Great app!
