Eve for Matter & HomeKit

The app *was great* but subsequent updates have severely limited the functionality & features. We have invested a lot in these devices & are feeling quite burnt about it. This needs attention.

This app has privacy issue. I have used the build-in scheduler to turn on aqua at specific time so without relying on the HomeKit. However, Eve aqua has stopped communicate after the app auto-updated to the latest version. App now needs your location to be shared with the app so you can change the scheduler. I see no need for my location to be shared just to modify the timer of the sprinkler.

I wish that the sunrise/sunset schedule had a random feature so that lights could be turned on or off: +\- 10, 15, or 30 minutes. Also as a software developer I wish the workflow was more intuitive. I find that I have to hunt around to find features.

The app works well on all our iOS devices. The only criticism is that it somewhat replicates the HomeKit app, making one of them redundant.

Do yourself a favor, even if EvE is on sale don’t waste the amount of time you will spend to try and try and try to make it work out at once done did. It’s absolutely terrible. Every upgrade everything is just terrible. I’ve wasted three days trying to get the plugs to work with the plugs ewe guard to work with the ewe guard guard to work with the sensors the eve sensors trying to work with the plugs it works good and then there’s an upgrade and then there is nothing but pain and sufferingtrying to redo everything reset all of them deleting and trying over and over and over again to get it to work do yourself a favour and do not purchase anything even for HomeKit

The app is as bad as their products.

They sell more hardware revision than updating this App! Reason? Very limited engineering experience with HomeKit products! So, they design and start selling devices - then after a few months, they get bombarded with complains and hardware issues that cannot get resolved by software / firmware! So, they fix the hardware and start selling them on Amazon and other places - BUT without acknowledging the issues with previous sold products! Just one juicy example - they kept telling bloggers that ALL their previous smart products would fully support thread with an updated firmware. 2+ years later, my 10+ smart-plugs which are 10+ revisions - have received no thread support! Fun fact - why bother paying top $$ for these junks and empty promises when you can buy much much MUCH cheaper Chinese made hardware. If no thread support, they are cheap enough to throw them out and buy something with latest and greatest techs!

Problems with receiving notifications offline/online. If a clip is recorded you only receive the notification if you are online. It would be convenient for the time being to receive the notifications offline or at least once you are reconnected.

I find it interesting that the reviews are three to five years old. I think that some of them are fake. I have a Eve Extend which needs to be reset and the product is no longer shown on the website and the link in this app doesn’t work.

I submitted a ticket via Eve App in 2022 December regarding one of outlet issue that I purchased brand new, until today, I still not heard back anything from their customer support. As much as I love their products, poor after service is the reason I will avoid purchasing in the future.
