I paid good amount to buy some off these switches but these are awful please don’t buy. Trust me I use smart switches and smart lights for home automation and this one barely connects even though I have Apple TV from which it utilises thread technology. If I switch my WiFi it doesn’t work if i switch to 4G/5G it doesn’t work sometimes even in same Wi-Fi network it stops responding. I replaced these with TP link Tapo switches they are much cheaper very nice UI and you can control from anywhere in the world as long as you have internet in your phone and the switches are connected to home wifi. Eve switches don’t even have proper integration with other apps. Stuck with few of them probably put them in garage where I don’t use them often.
As the titel says, syncing between multiple devices is almost non existing. First it was to aggressive; when rearranging accessories in a room on one device it would move the accessoires in a totally different order on another device. Now it is almost nonexistent; I got a new iPad and it won’t even load settings like custom room colors and icons, icons for scenes, etc. Please make it so that on iOS devices on the same iCloud account things like room settings, accessoires order in a room, icons, etc. all sync properly so that you have the same experience on all your devices and don’t have to set up everything separately for each device. I know this worked kinda well in the past but it becomes more broken and broken with each update.
Very nice device, especially its measuring capabilities. With that in mind I do have one question though: could you implement an option that Voltage can also be logged? Right now it’s ‘only’ power consumption that’s stored. Voltage logging is practical in cases when unwanted fluctuations on mains are suspected or incidentally measured. A graph (or even better: exportable data) of voltage over the hours and days would come in extremely handy then!
Was really pleased with my eve energy plugs. Worked flawless with HomeKit / Thread. Recently updated the firmware to support Matter. Since that moment the accessories are temporarily or permanent unavailable. Which require to remove the accessory, resetting it and after a few attempts able to add it again. Eve Systems Support is responsive, but repeatedly make the same suggestions to reset the Apple TV etc. No solution yet…
Very happy about the Eve Energy PowerPoints. I installed quite a few, all around my house, and the insight about electricity usage, per area, is brilliant. Overview per Eve socket, which could comprise various electrical devices, not exceeding 2.5kW per Eve socket. Brilliant. Graphs need some TLC, but they do tell you what you need to know, like time-on, Watt-hours, etc. Two things would make this entire system even better : 1. A cumulative overview of all the Eve sockets combined 2. A distinction between high and low electricity rates, following a time schedule
Regarding the power blocks. Power registration is per whole block. Not per socket. So you still are guessing. The app is incomprehensible. You are never sure what will happen when you touch an icon. Accidentally switching off a running computer is not fun. The power readings are also incomprehensible. It is unclear what is meant by consumption of 70 kWh. Per what? Day, week, year? The graphs do not enlighten you either as they are showing bars in Wh, again unclear what it means. (I am electrician Btw). Usability is not their thing, neither is electrical stuff. Buy something else.
