It took awhile to find the leak but once we did it was fixed after a journey to HD for a flap valve! Flo saved the day and thank you.
It took a couple of months for the smart valve to learn my usage consumption habits. Now it works excellent and hope not to have any catastrophic floods.
We use water and showers somewhat erratically and I get frequent notifications. As the system does not seem to easily allow a second user to stop the system for turning off, when I am travelling there is a constant worry that my family or the housekeeper will be left without water until I’m out of my meeting or even wake up if I’m in a different time zone. I usually swap SIM cards when traveling to Europe or Asia so I don’t get the phone notifications when traveling either.
Inaccurate- alarms at all times of night and day. Settings are as low as they can be.
I have been using the Flo by Moen to monitor my water shut off and leak detectors for about a year now. The app and devices have pointed out problems I would have never found leading to water waste or damage! Being able to see the amount of water used by day, week and month has really made us realize how we can save water. In the past I may have left the water running while brushing my teeth but now there is a report showing how much water is used so it makes you think about waste! One of my leak detectors shut off the water because of a leaky valve in the laundry room that could have leaked for quite a while if not detected. Now the App, I use many Apps for my smart home services and the Flo App works really well providing monitoring, stats and history and does it really well! Bottom line the App is Great. Excellent product….. and the learning phase of 5-7 days is small price to pay for the precise reporting after that ….home insurance loves it too by dropping the annual by $300!
The smart isn’t too smart it really is just guessing where the waters coming from it hasn’t learned anything in 7 months other then the really short flows are a faucet and the very large flows are a bath tub or a possible leak (which by the time it alarms the basement would already be flooded), much cheaper meters and a wifi or z-wave valve do the same thing as good or even better for a fraction of the price, the option flo monitoring for 6.09$ Canadian each month isn’t worth it, too many stipulations in place to actually cover the deductible as stated it does, no battery option so power required and back up battery from Moen is half the price of the valve. The work and to install it isn’t worth it considering what it does. Fitting in the cables are cheap and leak unless you use pipe dope and tape combined. The only leak sensors that work at Flo by Morn which are $80 each (more then double the average price for competition) and it doesn’t work with any of the assistants (Alexa, google, apple home or smart things) so it’s useless unless you use it’s own apps and water sensors. Works with Ring only works in the USA and it’s not very versatile other then setting off alarms. It may be worth it for $200 instead of $500 if it worked with other smart home platforms but as it stands don’t pay anything more the sale price if you’re desperate, other wise buy a Dome valve and cheap flow sensor for have the price and have more then double the possibilities with smart home integration
- It doesn’t rotate well between portrait and landscape - I need more control of the irrigation schedule. Right now it says that it thinks my irrigation runs at certain times. It’s wrong and I cannot change it.
Both a client and I installed this app. I created the account for his house in BC and he installed the app on his phone on the other side of the country. Once he logged into the app using the account i set up, i received an email containing all the places he and i went. This is unacceptable and beyond an invasion of privacy. Beyond that, the valve is measuring activity which is not happening. It is not as good as they let on.
