Always operational and almost always available each of the many, many times I have arrived to use it. My only hope is that FLO will install a fast charger for out-of-area EV driving parents and other visitors who need a full charge to return home
Standing in front of a charger
That I can’t use… waste of time
Can’t set up account
Useless app as I can’t even create an account. When I go to create a password the screen is just empty without the keyboard showing
Not user friendly
I wanted to charge my car. The station says to put my credit card next to the station. So I did that.
Didn’t work
I then tried my credit card on the other stations thinking the station wasn’t working.
Didn’t work.
I called the number. It’s in french. I live in the USA
They tell me to install an app. It was never written anywhere next to the station.
I then need to create an account. Confirm my email. And finally charge
The user experience is miles below the competition. The only way they can have revenue may be because they get government subsidies but there is so much friction to use that these charging stations are just useless.
In the end my car started charging …
… and the screen instructions were also in French.
lol
Comment.
As a new EV vehicle driver that I experienced the starting problem a little bit high.

Install mor charging point Jackson Heights 82 st
Between 43 st to 37 st that’s good for us
So slowww
App is easy to use. There is bunch of chargers around NYC but still not enough. And so slow, just 1 percent in every 10min for my Model Y :( Needs improvement.
Need more
We need more plug fast in the Bronx please
Waste of time and money
I rented an electric car while traveling. I was parking the car in a garage for a few hours, so I thought I’d connect a charger and let it top up the battery while the car sat. What a foolish mistake.
I walked up to the Flo charger, which had a tap to pay icon, and tapped my credit card. Declined. The screen on the charger had a cryptic message about an “unrecognized card.” Signage near the charger mentioned signing up online, which I didn’t want to do. I don’t own an electric car, so having to create an account just to charge a rental seemed like an unnecessary barrier for someone that’s just passing through. This should work just like a gas pump: I give you my card and you give me electricity. Simple. If I want to sign up later for the added benefits, that should be optional and up to me.
Against my better judgment, I went to the website and created an account. After creating an account, another barrier: you have to download the app to proceed. Okay, fine. How is someone in a remote area with poor service supposed to do this? No matter, onto the App Store. I login with my newly created account and attempt to start a charging session. Unlike other apps that don’t extort you for money before you can use the features, Flo won’t let you begin charging until you add money to your account. I can’t just link a credit card and have it bill me for the amount used. I have to pre-pay and load a balance onto the account. Not being familiar with this charging network, or how many kW my car needs, or the price per kWh at this particular location, I choose $25.
Now, finally, I can begin charging. I press the start button in the app and… failure. The charger is broken and the car tells me there was an equipment failure. I try the adjacent stall and… also broken. What a worthless waste of time. They’ve taken my money and information and haven’t rendered anything in return. I’ll be asking for a refund.
Slow to update charger status
Beware: the map does not update automatically. It is common to start driving to a charger when it is still available and arrive to see it is already taken.
