Fretonomy Reviews

Amazing!

HiFiMonki on

Just 5 minutes a day with this app and all the monotony of the stuff you just have to memorize is gone. Been using it on my commutes to work for a few years and the app just keeps getting better. Excellent games. Excellent content. Many instruments with a variety of tunings and settings. Had an issue and got a response from the developer in the same day. So excellent communication also. Just buy it if you are playing an instrument and want to get the music theory memorization part of your practice done efficiently.

Subscription, no thanks!

This looks like a very well put together app. I tested it out and was willing to purchase. Then realized it was a monthly and yearly subscription. No thanks. A one time fee should be plenty. Greedy developers

Tunings

Rbloch66 on

Please add the ability to use custom tuning. It definitely needs 6 string bass option. You list 1 option for 5 string bass, but there are 2 different tunings that go with a 5 string bass. If you can’t offer custom tuning, then please add a wider scope of tunings.

Expensive

Nice looking app but $30/yr subscription price is obscene

Happy user!!

I am enjoying this app as it has really helped me learn the notes on my guitar. It follows a very good strategy to learn without getting overwhelmed. I have a feature request though that sounds really appealing and helpful in the learning process in my opinion. I would love to see a functionality where it lets you define a training session where you set a time period for it and then during the defined time, the app randomly switches between strings and stay on one for a set duration and asks you to name notes on that string only and when the time is over it will switch to another string until you’ve worked your way through all the strings. For example, in a 12 minutes session, it will start with 2 minutes on low E, then switches to D after 2 minutes and stays on it for another 2 minutes and so on until you’ve practiced naming notes on all the strings. I hope this suggestion helps making this app even more useful and practical but like I said, I love it just the way it is.

Great app

This has been invaluable in helping me learn the fretboard. It will help you too. Get it! One feature request - in the Name Note game, it would be helpful to have an enharmonic option, instead of just sharps OR just flats. I recently started learning non-naturals, and find it awkward to be thinking of Bb as an A#, or F# as a Gb. I think having them both listed would be more relevant, while also helping people make sense of the fretboard more quickly.

Very useful app

I have been trying to learn the fretboard for ages and this is the first thing that has actually helped cement it into my brain. I do 500 notes 3x a day and am having amazing results in just a few days. Very happy with this app.

It is not working anymore

So far so good. It would be neat if I could call out the notes using the microphone rather than a keypad
