Should be good but…
The constant syncing issues completely break it. No idea why this information needs to be uploaded to their servers constantly, or at all. Feel like they are just trying to push us to pay for it

I paid for the premium version and as soon as i did this app stopped working?…. keeps saying it can’t sync 😡
Used this a long time ago, and it worked pretty good. We had bank account sync for free back then. Went to give it another try again. Removed bank account I had added back them to add a different one (said I could only sync one). Wouldn’t let me do it without paying overpriced subscription. If it was reasonable, I would consider.
It’s a very good budgeting app because it’s so simple. The downside is if you want more than 10 envelopes, you have to pay either $10/month or $80/year. This app doesn’t need a subscription. Just charge $10.00 to buy the full version. I can’t imagine anyone would actually pay for a subscription for something this simple.
Service was good enough, used this for 14 years. But recently they started putting ads in the top of the transaction register…for paying customers! Looking to switch to something self-hosted to prevent dealing with this again.
I’m not lying when I say I’ve downloaded at least 40 different budget apps and every single one is missing things that I love about this app! The layout is kind of dated (I’m a UX Designer so hmu if you want to collaborate 😁 (I need an internship)) but the way this app functions and splits things and handles all my budgets is flawless. I don’t even know how to explain it but once you try this budget app you can’t go back!
Give us the option to sort envelopes the same way they’ve always been sorted (by frequency of filling, like in the UI video on the App Store page). This new way of forcing users to sort by arbitrary categories is absolute garbage and I will be deleting the app if it’s not fixed. It keeps glitching out and looks godawful.
Feedback on current version: My husband started using this app before we got married, and I used similar apps before. We log all of our expenses as we make them, and periodically audit our records to make sure we haven’t missed anything. We don’t sync with our bank accounts: we find that making the comparisons manually helps us stay on track. And staying on track has been fairly easy. Potential Enhancements: It might be nice to have separate Goodbudget accounts that can be connected to share some envelopes but not others (we have separate bank accounts and choosing where the money comes from every time is annoying), but we just share one account across two phones. We both would like to use our voice assistants to log expenses.

Potential Enhancements: I have found that the iOS app doesn’t include a negative symbol, so I logged reimbursements as income until I discovered that I could copy and paste the negative symbol from another app: that might be something for the developers to look into improving for iOS. I used it for a month but refused to pay for it. It never backed up any data and I was logged out, losing all the transactions.
