GreenBooks: Money Manager

Best app for my use but the transactions don’t match my bank account balance and I don’t know where it’s miss matching. I’ve tried the auto connect and import transactions but the balance still off. GreenBooks has a document on reconciliation but I didn’t go through it- I wish it would just work.

I was looking to replace my personal finance app which seemed to no longer be updated. I found GreenBooks. It is everything I was looking for. Straight forward, easy to use, great interface and available on Mac and iOS and uses iCloud sync not a private cloud service. I was able to import all my data and accounts with no problems. On the Mac version I really like the “show projection” feature to get a quick forecasting view. The iOS app is very handy to enter items on the fly. All in all it is perfect for what I need. I would recommend giving it a try.

I’ve been looking for this app for years! Easy to get data into, and easy to glean insight from. Those are the two main jobs of any finance app, right? And this does it brilliantly. Highly recommended!

This is a very good app, especially since there is a Mac OS version. Both apps have the latest info.

I have used Green Books for years and find it a simple and effective way of keeping track of my finances. I highly recommend it.

I have been a YNAB user for years but became disenchanted by the increasing subscription costs. Looking around for a replacement I was excited to find Greenbooks. It fits my needs perfectly and has a similar functionality to YNAB, with which I was familiar. In some ways, Greenbooks is easier to use - entering or importing data is a snap, Direct Connect to your bank works well (not always the case with YNAB), and there are useful export options. The chart for monthly breakdown of costs is really helpful, providing both a summary and breakdowns by category. Setting up a budget for a month or for the year is straightforward, allows you to track the progress of your expenses against budget, and easily identify those transactions for categories that are over budget. I love the iOS version of the app, which is so simple that now I enter expenses as I make them - not later in the week or month, as was my previous (onerous) practice. I have thoroughly test-driven this software and found it to be easy to use. Everything works as advertised! A very nice piece of software and great value for its price.

Long time user of GreenBooks from when it was called Savings. It is an excellent tool for basic tracking of finances. The developer was very responsive when I had a question and fixed the problem right away. Highly recommend. I use desktop app as well and appreciate the sync function.

Wonderful App. Easy to use. Provides a valuable summary of the total cash total in all accounts together with an indication of the amounts spent in each category. The only modification that I would suggest be considered is the ability to sort both the Account list and the Category List. At present the last one entry is placed at the bottom of the list.

Great app. Works and synchs flawlessly between iOS and OSX versions across multiple devices. I've used it for more than 2-1/2 years now and tech support has been awesome whenever needed (which is rare). One suggestion for future improvement: Add the "schedule" feature to the iOS version, to allow to add and edit of scheduled transactions. Thanks!

Simply said .... by far this is the most effective and simple yet accurate check book, savings etc app I have ever used. Other apps focus too much on many features that are really not needed. This is my daily “to go app” definitely a must have! No subscriptions fees, and excellent cloud interface between devices and security features.
