Groovebox - Beat Synth Studio

The app is really good. You can create and mix beats and melodies with ease. Why did developer decide to limit the length of the song to just 16 bars is something I can't understand. Sure, you can add more sections (each consisting of 16 bars max) but you can't make the app play them in succession. This means that there is no way to play the entire song without having to manually change sections while the song is playing. This means that there is no way to combine sections into a full track. Very questionable decision. A simple option to play each section one after another would really add a lot of value to the app. Devs, please, can you add that feature?

This app is perfect for beginners looking for a way to make some quick music. It’s quick and easy, you can make a fire beat in 10 mins if you’re good. It has just about everything you need to make a basic beat It has drumbox which offers a variety of free sound packs as awell as downloadable ones. It has a synthesizer for main melodies and a mini synth for backups. The Retro bass feature lets you create some awesome bass notes to enhance your sound whether you want a light hearted hum or a dark and heavy warble and these features can be edited in terms of distortion and gain etc. Great app overall. I’ve personally made a fair bit of music on this app and will keep doing so until a better one comes along (which it won’t) 10/10

Brilliant sound tool in your arsenal.

When ever I finish recording a song or whatever you wanna call it. It doesn’t save or say where the file is going. I’m a bit upset because I’ve made some good songs and just loose them. Could the songs be imported to photos/gallery kinda like medly. Keep up the good work 👍

Today, I see two notifications in News. Drumbox Expansion is on sale and Glitch Breaks is released. Great. I want both. So I tap on ‘em. I’m brought back as usual to the menu. And that’s all she wrote. No store screen, no matter how long I wait. Happens with both items. Reboot - no difference. Can’t buy. Brilliant. More coffee, guys. Lots more.

I feel is really good and a lot of work has been put into it and all, but there is a major glitch - When I'm writing a pattern with a Synth the notes start popping out and the text blows up blocking the pattern and messing up everything. I don't know if my description makes any sense but it's a serious glitch that needs fixing

I like Groovebox because the layout and simplicity of the app makes it so easy to create a good song sketch (for electronic music). Unfortunately, the app is missing features that would make it an amazing and complete sketch tool. For me, the biggest issue is the lack of MIDI out. If I could sketch a song in Groovebox, start with stock sounds - then set each track to a MIDI channel out to hardware or another DAW…this would be my main sketching tool. Other cons? - Very limited piano roll (It can’t be split by a specific note value) - No AU version - No audio channel outputs - Automation is mysterious and limited. (Can’t map to a controller? Is it using CC’s?) - Can’t record audio loops. (Which would be fantastic for developing vocals, adding guitar or something else) It seems like the dev has not intention of adding to this app; so, I’m looking at other apps, but this is good for someone new to music production.

Cool sounds and fun

This is a great app but i sure wish it had song mode. It is easy to use and inspiring for a newbie like me.

I’ve had this for a couple of years. I can’t say enough about how great this app has been for my workflow. It’s easy to use, friendly, straight to the point and effective. And that’s without any purchases yet. The sound quality of the files are amazing and I plan on purchasing a lot of the additional features they also provide. This is not only an intuitive programmable drum machine, it’s also a fully in depth sound designing tool, it has some great features if you know your music theory and you’d like to program some chords to see how they sound as a loop. 10/10 recommended
