Very disappointing overall, for 17€ you can't even map any midi, can't choose the midi channel, it doesn't respond to clock from other sources like other (free) apps do..You unlock almost all devices, except for the horizon, that's the one for pads. And then they want extra money for soundpacks.. I want my money back! Stick to the free version, don't buy it.
I bought the in app drumbox expansion for my iPad Pro. Do I have to buy this expansion again to use it on another device like my iPhone? Great app by the way!
Great app. The sounds are really dope and useful and inspiring. It works pretty good with the Launchkey mini as well. Although it’s missing some key features like: adding notes properly like the length and other parameters and that there is no option for using no scale at all, it is still a fun app to use. I hope they change something about the app itself, instead of only adding sound packs.
Mix and match, or go crazy and make patterns from a nice UI! It’s intuitive, easy and quite direct. I enjoy making little riffs, try out some melodies and making some some stomping kicks. One big thing i miss is a sequencer for the bars/sections. Also would love to be able to group/move tracks. Though i guess the idea is more that you create vocals/melodies/kicks etc, and export those as WAV, AAC or to ableton. The regular version enables you to test Groovebox, the pro version isnt free, and gives you a good impression of the app. After upgrading to the Pro version, all sliders/nobs/toggles where unlocked for most instrument with the exception of the horizon synth. That was a bit of a let-down, though it got added after my purchase. For me its a nice scratch-up tool, and could even see it as a side-source while live (recording). If you ever thought up an kick or melody, know what “IT,S3M,XM,MOD” or “303/808/909/rebirth338” is, this might a a fun toy for you.
Nicnomadi is using the synthesizers to build his own templates on top of what is purchased. You can be creative in 10 minutes to start a new idea. You put in more time later to perfect. All on a phone. Export to Launchpad or your preferred DAW for remix but mostly good as is, Fun to use.

This app has great potential but it’s crippled by lack of import for drum samples and own synth waveforms. Of course we will never see these features because it’s in direct competition with their own sound packs. Don’t call something pro if it lacks basic features like this. I was very disappointed to spend real money and find these features missing. Launchkey integration is great so I’m really hoping to see these features in the future even if I have to pay more.
Take the Free Edition. Wait for more free soundpacks. GrtZ!
I wish only that we could have auto section changes (a song progression) and different keys per section (as you cannot enter notes out of the key grid).
Nice sw for quick ideas but synth engines far from simple. Not really happy after comparing to korg gadget 2
