You screen your calls, so why can't you screen your emails? With HEY, you can. HEY puts you in complete control of who's allowed to email you. Don't want to hear from someone? Screen them out and won’t hear from them again.

Naturally grouped
Inboxes are typically an intertwined mess of new and old messages haphazardly mixed together. Yuck. With HEY, new messages are always grouped together at the top, and previously seen emails are always at the bottom. Neat and orderly by default. No need to wade through the inbox jungle with a machete.

Fix bad subjects without busting threads
If you don’t start the thread, you're often stuck with other people’s generic, non-descriptive email subjects. With HEY, you can rename a subject so it makes sense for you without changing things for the other person.

Add private notes to any email thread
Conversations may start in email, but they may continue somewhere else. Some emails turn into lunches or calls or video conferences. Where do you put the notes from those - especially if they relate to the initial email conversation? With HEY, you can add personal, private notes (and files) to any thread. What if you need to reply, but you don't have time right now? With HEY, just click the “Reply Later” button to move an email to a dedicated ‘Reply Later’ pile at the bottom of the screen so you don’t lose or forget it.

Stop heavy senders from dominating your inbox
When you get lots of emails from someone, they can take over your Inbox. With HEY, you can choose to bundle a sender into a single row. This means no matter how many emails they send you, they'll only take up a single row in your Inbox. Clean, controlled, and calm.

Not meant for mobile use

Very good app when you’re sit at home on WiFi. But on the go it’s plain awful. I’ve lost draft, e-mail never been sent... The navigation is unbearably slow. Not useable…

No annual subscription for HEY Domains!

After talking with support it’s unfortunate this subscription model is not available but it is for their HEY domains which sucks…

Great idea, too bad it’s abandoned.

Looks like Basecamp is like google now - has too much money so they can release great promising products and then abandon them once user base grown significantly. The “minor updates” that been going on for since 2020 don’t count. It looks like one developer updating this app part-time. I wonder what is the other more important abandonware project.

Simply fantastic

How email should be. Where the user is the customer, rather than a target for ads. My biggest fear was that the auto-sorting capability wouldn't be come close to, say, Gmail - but it does all I need just fine. So I'm now spending far less time 'just checking' emails - it's ezactly what I need. I've also found it required far less adjustment than some of the commentary suggested it would - just get in and go!

Great however…

Somebody took my email address I wanted I settled for first initial-lastname instead of my firstname-surname letter onmail had the address I wanted and I use and pay for both. Welcome to email of the future. Keep up the great work Basecamp

Good core product, too much wasted dev time

The core product and idea are great, but the devs seem determined to keep spending their time adding useless features that add no value and that no one wants while the app still lacks some basic functionality. Please stop adding useless junk like blogs and work on maturing the core features instead.

Need custom domains for personal email

I know it’s coming, I’m excited, you’ll get the final star when I get my custom domain. I know there is a workaround but I’m keen to move away from gmail entirely.

Fireman true rethink and redesign of email I’ve seen

Google claimed Gmail was a rethink and redesign of email. And, to a small degree, it was different. *This* is fundamentally different. To say it makes traditional email feel clunky and inefficient would be an understatement. To achieve this Basecamp had to offer a *service*. So, if you wanted a new email client that aggregates all of your existing email services, look elsewhere. Me? I migrated everything to Hey. I’ll never go back.
