Description

iCab Mobile is a web browser for the iOS. It provides many unique and useful features you won't find in other iPhone browsers.
APPLE WATCH:
The Watch App is a remote control for iCab Mobile, so you can navigate, zoom, scroll, open bookmarks, links, the homepage, switch tabs or sitch on/off the fullscreen mode. Since watchOS 6.2 you can also open web pages and browse the Web directly on the Apple Watch. But there are still limitations: there are no navigation buttons (back/forward) available.
FILE UPLOADS:
iCab Mobile can upload any files on web pages.
SEARCHING:
iCab Mobile comes with several default search engines you can choose from. You can easily add new search engines.
FILLING OUT FORMS:
iCab Mobile can save web forms and restore the form content later (manually or automatically). The saved forms data can be password protected. Supports many third-party Password Manager Apps as well.
FILTERS:
There’s a built-in fully customizable filter feature. It allows to block resources, ads, banners, user tracking scripts, cookies etc. Supports AdBlock Plus/EasyList filters as well.
TABS:
iCab Mobile supports Tabs, so you can open multiple web pages at the same time. Links can be opened in Tabs (in the foreground or background) manually or automatically.
BOOKMARKS:
Bookmarks can be organized in folders. You can import/export the bookmarks from/to your PC/Mac browser.
FULLSCREEN MODE:
iCab Mobile provides a fullscreen mode where the whole screen is used to display the web page. No screen space is wasted for toolbars.
DOWNLOADS:
iCab Mobile has a built-in Download Manager so you can download almost all files from the internet. The downloads can be easily transfered to a Mac/PC/Linux computer but also to other Apps on the device which can open these files
MULTIUSER SUPPORT
You can create multiple user accounts, each user has its own private bookmarks, filters, settings, etc.
DROPBOX
iCab Mobile supports Dropbox. Export/Import bookmarks; transfer downloads, images, files, web pages to your Dropbox account.
TWIN BROWSER:
In this mode, you can have two browsers side by side on the iPad. This is especially useful on the large iPad Pro.
VOICEOVER
The App is also accessible for visually impaired and blind users. If VoiceOver is enabled, the App plays soft ticks while a page is loading, so blind users are able to identify when the page load has finished.
OTHER FEATURE:
- Configurable multi-touch gestures
- QuickStarter feature
- AirPrint support
- Browser ID (UserAgent) is configurable
- iCab Mobile fully supports international domain names
- Cookie Manager
- Private Browsing (no history and no cookies are stored)
- Privacy settings allows to delete all kinds of private data (history, cookies, databases, saved forms, passwords etc.)
- URL autocompletion
- Simple built-in RSS reader
- Save images, whole web pages, PDF files
- Kiosk Mode - a restricted variation of the fullscreen mode for Kiosk environments.
- History
- Addressbook support lets you access the web pages from the addressbook.
- When launching iCab can either open an empty page, the homepage or restore the Tabs which were open the last time
- There are different color schemes and designs
- Document Sharing lets you pass downloads and files to other Apps in the device

The App includes a store providing several InApp purchases. These are meant as a tip jar. The InApp purchases are available for different prices, so you can pick the amount for the tip yourself. Doing so will unlock a few cool features as a reward, these are always the same, regardless of the amount of the tip. Users who have purchased the App within the last 12 months do get all these features for free, no need to buy one of the InApp purchases. Though they can nevertheless give me a tip, if they want to... ;-)

Update

I have updated this app twice within the past couple of days, and both times, Voiceover just isn't workin for the app? Looking forward to that being fixed.

This used to be a great browser

Now it is absolutely terrible. Hangs on “restore purchases” opens files in already populated tabs instead of new ones, can’t force a link to open in the same window even though it shows as an option in the settings menu. Please revert to pre-ui change. This is absolute garbage. This developer took money and changed to the app to make it worse. What a ripoff.

The old version was perfection

The new version is rather ugly and too white. Bring back the grey classic look. Contextual menus are about 50% slower to activate than previous versions. Old setting did not carryover, requiring a TON of time to reconfigure. Update is 5/10. I and others much prefer the previous version.

Version 11 is really broken

EricSF on

This was my go-to web browsing app for private browsing. The user experience was awesome. The tabs worked well. And most importantly, when I switched to another app, it would hide whatever I had on screen. With the “privacy” features fully enabled, it would completely clear my history, cache, and any open web pages for ultimate privacy. But all of that is now broken. It doesn’t work at all… there is no privacy, and these key features no longer work. They should work, but they just don’t. And, the new version has several UI changes that make it much harder to use. For example, tabs are smaller now, so tapping on them is difficult. Tap-and-hold on a link, so that I can open it in a background tab, only works some times now. And trying to get a video to play (one that you have to tap on to start playing), doesn’t work most of the time either. Scrolling the playback marker in a video, by tapping and scrubbing the place in the horizontal scroll bar doesn’t scrub the video any more. Instead, it is being interpreted as a screen swipe, which causes the window to move, or to switch to another tab (which I had to disable), or to simulate pressing the back button. All in all, this version is unusable.

Not a fan of new v11

I use different browsers for different jobs, and have been using iCab Mobile for years as my “private” browser, i.e. set to private mode to always wipe all history, etc. Unfortunately in recoding for newer Apple tech, v11 no longer does a good job of this. Some sites are now displayed incorrectly with user agent as Safari and I have to switch to Android to get mobile view, which adds its own unwanted quirks on some sites. Videos now show on the iOS Lock Screen even after closing the browser and having set to clear all. Still true if you enable password on profile. For most people this might be what they want and an improvement. For my use, I was happier with the previous version.

New update deleted my saved profile data.

Lost me a lot of work.

Yuck

I get that the new version is easier to maintain, but it’s a flaming piece of garbage that removes absolutely every reason I had for using it. What would make you butcher the existing version rather than sunsetting it and creating a new product? You can’t be making any money from the current one, anyway. As for me, I’m deleting it, and just won’t be using the web on my phone as much.

How can i restore previous version?

Sasha Malishev on

United States

I have been using this browser for the past 5-7 years. The recent changes are simply unacceptable. For the first time, it has become so awful that I want to delete the product. Therefore, it’s extremely important for me to know how to revert to the old version in just one click, bringing back the old theme without this confusing and useless customization that nobody needs and has made the product absolutely terrible and dreadful.

Private?

Mjrestiano 1 on

The last update doesn’t delete history in private mode. That renders the app useless. Fix it or everyone will switch to chrome. How could you screw up the most basic tenet of your app? Privacy is why i use it. You have 1 week.

They've done it

MigMit on

The latest UI update makes everything ugly. I've just spend more time than I intended removing everything from the ”bottom toolbar” just to get rid of that thing, and it still looks ugly. I think I'm moving to Safari.
