Horrendous app
Ridiculously buggy and basically unusable
Warning - latest version doesn’t work!
Warning! The latest version (currently 4.9.8) doesn’t seem to work. The app sometimes just freezes, sometimes crashes, sometimes get stuck in the backup process. Disappointing. Used to work reasonably well before the latest version(s).
Do not recommend
Everytime I close the app the device gets ”unlinked” and I have to log in again, very annoying and time consuming. Once in a while I also have to delete the app and install it again since it won’t start. The idea of the service is great but the performance of the app is horrible, money could be better spent by using another provider (like DropBox).
Crashes
The app crashes and never completes the backup. Same thing happened on both iPhone 7 and 8, both of them with all updates applied.
This is the best solution
Reinstall if you have any issues, that worked for me. I am very glad I found this service. Take some time and read up on what you can do, i am going to sync my phone and PC, but am going to use an external hard drive to upload archives and then will delete from the drive. Being an external drive, I won't have to worry about accidentally doing an archive cleanup. I might delete pic and vids off of phone now that it is backed up, then I can back my phone up to my computer, move the file to my archive drive and store on iDrive. Then restore on phone. Also intrigued by timeline where all photos from all devices are viewable in one place. That's cutting edge.

Having much experience with cloud storage, I was looking for a new brand to go with and absolutely love the price + performance of IDrive. All you have to do if anything “stops working” is re-start/refresh the app. I have had zero issues so far!

iPhone app lacking
The iPhone app is never even close to being up to date to access data from my home computer
Crashes whenever I start it…
Please fix the app. Everything else about the service is great. But the app is essential for easy access to my data.
