iLet app is super innovative and helpful! Amazing technology!
The ILet pump and its app are both incredible and easy to use. I have personally lived with T1D since 1982 and have been using various pumps since August 2000 (Disetronic, Animas, Medtronic, Omnipod, Tandem and now ILet). This pump is what I have been dreaming about and hoping to have for years. It is accurate and so easy to use and benefit from. I am looking forward to the future with new options with Beta Bionics and ILet. Anyone that wants accuracy and ease of use and not having to think about diabetes all day long, so get with Beta Bionics and ILet.
The Home Screen provides no information about insulin on board (which would be helpful to prepare for potential hypos prior to exercising). This missing info is inconsistent with the app providing average insulin used for meals and basal on the Report screen. Not providing pump users with current insulin on board on the Home Screen makes the iLet difficult to use when exercising. The Report Screen frequently crashes: it displays the “spinning sun” entry screen but never advances from there. The only fix is to quit the app and try again. The “overview” graphs the Report screen don’t provide x-axis labels, so it’s virtually impossible to interpret the times associated with the glucose values provided. Scrolling through the daily graphs of glucose levels and making sense of the tiny bar charts that display meal boluses is difficult because a) the graphs don’t show what size of meal was chosen (usual, more than usual, less than usual) and b) the pump algorithm doesn’t give the user any control over managing the size of these boluses anyway. I guess you might get insight about how long prior to a meal to announce it? In summary, the lack of info in the app makes it difficult for people who want to adjust the timing of their meal announcements and for people to plan how to maintain glucose control while exercising. As currently designed the app is a missed opportunity to inform users who need more involvement with glucose control other than announcing carb intake.
Not sure about some of the bad experiences I’m reading about on here… My a1c has been low to mid 6’s since I can remember. I’ve always just been on shots. I never wanted to use a pump bc of all the hassle and my numbers were always good. I tried iLet bc I was frustrated with my “rage bolusing” and I was always fighting lows after fighting highs. The ilet hasn’t changed my A1c’s (6.0-6.6 since starting in sept 2023), but it’s allowed me to “let go” a little and not worry constantly about my glucose levels. Again, this is the only pump I’ve ever wanted to try bc it looked so easy to use with not a lot of work. And I’m really glad I took the leap! The new app is way better than the old one. I can look at my phone to see if/when I announced and what my level is. Nice features.
Love the app colors and display screen. Helps to see this so I don’t have to take the pump out from my belt or pocket so I can see what my sugar is and if I announced a meal. It’s great how quick the advancements with this pump happen. Also love that I can just email my report to my provider right from the app!
Diabetes can be hard. ILet makes it a whole lot easier.
Clear, concise, easy to read with all the data you need to live a healthy life!!!
So, this is a review about the app (not the device). The latest update is much more useful than the last version. I love the similar look as the Dexcom app, as well as the added quick look at insulin dosage as well as device battery life and insulin units in a numerical value. If I could add anything it would be to be able to set more of your x and y numerical values as well as more alerts on your phone (iLet volume is to low). Also I have yet to be able to use or see any history beyond the past 24 hours. It looks like that is more a placeholder for a future version. In summary, great update! App works well, eagerly anticipating more updates. *Side note - I love the iLet device so far! Keep pushing this awesome technology ahead guys! And add me a snack button. -Keith
I just got the iLet and set up training, thankfully over Zoom so it's only a little over a week away. The trainer called to set the appointment up and to let me know to unbox the device, charge it, download and install the app, and update the firmware. The update gave it Dexcom G7 support, BTW. This all just plain worked worked, and having the Qi charger is SO much better than struggling at night with my previous Tandem pumps outdated micro-USB plug that never wanted to fit when I had my glasses off! It might be nice if this app came with Apple Watch support, maybe to add meal info. I already get my blood sugar levels on the Dexcom Apple Watch app. My only criticism is that the text on the screen is pretty dim. I found that you can rather wake up button twice (if it's locked you see three .gt signs showing brightness on the unlock slider) to make it a little brighter, but it's still dim. But it seems to look brighter when you have another light source angled on it. I could not find a way just to set an acceptable brightness setting without an external light source. After training I'll update or post a review about the actual results of using the pump. Of course, only after properly following the pumps learning process. A friend of mines daughter has been using hers for a month or two now, and he said in a few weeks it made a world of difference for her. And it's still learning. Someone criticized the infusion set, saying it got yanked out. Hey, that's not the apps fault, and it happens. The Accusoft infusion sets I used with the Tandem got yanked out if I bumped into something the wrong way, and just plain fell off in hot and humid weather unless I added an extra adhesive around it. So did my CGM.
Hello!!! I’m a pretty young diabetic. I’ve been using the I-Let since october. This has helped SO MUCH. I have been very stressed because of my diabetes, causing my mental health to deteriorate. With the I-Let? I have felt better then ever. All I have to say is, it’s very easy to rip out. I ripped it out at school, whole day I was high and my ketones rose to 1.6. I wish there was more measures to keep this from happening. Through out the whole time i’ve used it, it’s ripped out 6 times.
