Great idea but very unreliable

music mad on

I purchased this thinking I dont need to carry keys anymore but was I wrong. I have linked the lock which what seems to be a million times but time and time again it wont open reliably or even worse not at all. I’m a big tech head and have a lot of experience with techie gadgets but this it almost going to be thrown in the bin. When I reprogram it it seems to work great for a day a week two days two weeks but always fails eventually. I had high hopes for this so I didn’t need to carry keys but I wouldn’t risk it because I may need to break into my own house. I have watched all the videos on YouTube and the Kevo website but eventually it looses the ability of opening my door without having to get my keys out of my pocket. Very disappointed 😢

Have to replace batteries every two months. Most of the time it does not work and you have to unlock your phone to open the door… works after few a tempts, would be faster to use a key… I’m at a stage now where I have purchased a new lock and will replace this one. Also the plus is an annual subscription :(((

Underwhelmed

I love the concept. The app often doesn’t connect to the device, so I find I always have to carry a key anyway, and the whole point was to get a key off the key ring! The bolt is too square; it needs a little shape to help it close easily when there is a rubber seal around the door. Mine jams against the striker unless I pull the door against the seal while the bolt drives home. (It didn’t do this before the seals were installed). I can’t seem to buy the Kevo plus wifi adaptor in Australia. This was a key (pardon the pun) part of the choice to use the Kevo. So much potential! Underperforming on a few fronts.

Slow to respond

Kevo is so slow to respond it is less convenient than using a key.

Sensitivity

Doesn’t work if your phone is in your pocket even though the apps was open on the background. You have to open your apps and have it near to door lock otherwise it will not work

Apple Watch app

Very good app, but I would recommend an Apple Watch extension so my kid can get in the house while I’m away from home

Good but room for improvement

Would be great if you could integrate with apple shortcuts so automations could open or lock the door. Better yet HomeKit integration would be amazing

Working well

Kevo is great, works 99% of the time. . Only 4 stars as I would have thought by now Kevo would have built an Apple Watch app, to enable unlocking with the watch alone. That would be awesome.

Some times work sometime doesn’t
