Kinder - Find Baby Names

Published by: Kinder Babynames

Description

Kinder is a super simple name choosing app. Through Kinder you can quickly swipe name suggestions you like to the right and dismiss the ones you don’t like.
You get one name set for free based on your location and if you want you can easily buy additional name sets for a small fee.
You can connect to your partner to find matches. Purchased name sets will also be available for your partner.
Kinder has over 18.000 names in the library with a grand variety in origins so you can find that unique name that your child will write history with!

FAQ’s
I can’t connect to my partner, please help!
If you can’t connect it might be that the connection code is expired. Please try to invite each other once more. If that doesn’t help it might be your time settings; those must be set to automatic, otherwise the connection mechanism can’t connect you unfortunately.
I don’t see our matches!
We try to update matches every 30 seconds. So please bear with us! If after that time you still don’t see them, please try to restart the app.
If I purchase a name set, will my partner also get these?

Yes! It might not show up in a split second, but if you’re connected purchases will be shared.
I bought a new phone, what will happen with my Kinder likes?
We are very sorry, unfortunately we don’t have a feature to save your likes, dismisses and matches just yet. We are working on a solution to save these though.
Who runs Kinder?

Kinder is app started by me; Krijn Haasnoot. I’m a Dutch guy who had an idea after having dinner with a couple of friends years ago. They were having their first child and my question was: ‘How do you find a name?’. Their answer was: ‘Probably some books, the internet, family’. I immediately thought, ‘that can be more fun’ and I came up with the idea of using an intuitive swipe like selection mechanism used by another app, but than with baby names! And it should be able to match likes between partners!’
I don’t think Kinder is the end solution to choose the name for your child, I just hope to inspire, get the discussion going in a positive way and help out! Having a baby is a fun, sacred, but also tiring and possibly stressful time. Let’s take a small thing out and make it nicer.
As you can read, Kinder is just a small one-man company.

Duplicate names

There are so many duplicate names on this app. It’s a waste of time.

Great App!

I am very surprised how good this app was. It gives you a bunch of random baby names and you get shoes from them. They gave me a lot that I like, but I like that they give me options that I can dislike so I can show them more preference. It is really useful if you are about to have a kid, or you just want to plan baby names for the future. I can’t wait for more updates, but the only negatives are that it says my Apple account doesn’t work so I don’t have an account. That’s why this is four stars.

Awful name suggestions, crummy app

CheezusFriest on

United States

You’d think an app like this would prioritize the top 500 names in your country before branching out into super unusual names, but this app seems to have them all mixed together unweighted, so in my first 20 girl names I have had “Chimamanda”, “Dale” and “Eilidh” mixed with a few standard names and a few medium-weird names. If their database is unweighted and unorganized, you might have to swipe through 500 names before reaching a popular name like “Olivia”. Also, there does not appear to be any way to see a list of which names I liked and which I disliked. Maybe that shows up after you add a partner, but I’m not wasting my spouse’s time.

Lots of bugs

The app concept is great. Connecting to a partner on the app was a hassle. The code wouldn’t work, matches that are showing up on my wife’s side and not mine, the names should be in the same order on both connected apps to streamline the matches.

doesnt work

Neen1231 on

this app doesnt work. I spent forever going through names on my end until it said no more selections. My partner did it for like 10 minutes then it said no more selections. Theres no way we didn’t match on even one. We know we did, we said some out loud so the app didn’t even tell us.

App stopped syncing and then I lost all my data

A. M. Y. on

United States

My husband and I have been using Kinder for finding baby names (we are expecting our first in a couple months). We noticed that our favorites stopped syncing on my end. So, I tried to log out and then log back in, but when I went to log in, all of my data for liked names/matches was completely gone. I am also not connected to my husband anymore, and when I try to reconnect us, I just get a window that indicates it is loading (though, it never loads). Now we need to start from scratch on our names.

Good, could be better

Have had this app for a month or so. At first the match feature was working, it has disappeared recently. Has a large-ish pool of names, but the types of names in the base app do not inspire me to purchase expansions, as many of the names seem odd to me. A nice-to-have feature would be meaning of the names on the cards as well. Overall we have used this to our expectations over other apps, but I have had to do my own research as well and add potential names to our deck. Want the match function to work again.

Bad names

Indianfoodisawesome on

All the names were misspelled Utah tragedies. There were no good, normal, or traditional names.

Doesn’t link to partner

*JenniferH* on

Disappointed in this app. Doesn’t link to partner as it states. Just gives an error if you try to link. Names are so so.

Extension packs are a rip off

Michelle Feza on

I bought an extension pack with — wait for it — no names. When I bought it, I sorted for just that language, and it produced 0 names. Rip off, fraudulent money grab.
