Don’t buy

Can’t connect to WiFi and when it does can’t maintain connection. Viewer and cell phones are not seamless. No response from support. Not reliable to watch you child. Pick a different monitor system that actually works. Great features, if they worked at all….0 stars

App and Parent Unit are dangerously unreliable

Andreina Mirror on

I am more surprised when something works than when it doesn’t. •motion detection alerts are extremely delayed and sometimes missed entirely by the unit. I will look at the monitor randomly and catch my child fully awake and sitting up and the thing has never gone off to tell me. So, don’t turn your sound low or go to a different part of the house unless you’re watching like a hawk. •motion events are NOT recorded. Like ever. I can manually go in the app and record something whenever I want but the app, provided it’s all working 😅, but it will not record motion events upon detection as stated. •the picture shown on the screen and app are NOTORIOUSLY outdated — I’m talking hours old and I won’t notice until I physically hear my child screaming because I was watching a FROZEN old picture !! Or, the devices will disconnect from each other randomly and spend ages attempting to re-establish connection until I go in and power cycle the camera. •often and without provocation, the parent unit (the physical monitor) will not connect to the camera when you go to power it on. Yup, so after I have left the room with my newly asleep child, I learn that the parent unit will not connect and thus I cannot monitor the child. I have to GO BACK IN THE ROOM, to power cycle the camera, which is conveniently placed ABOVE my child’s sleep surface, for it to start working again. And if you’re wondering, no, the app will not provide a feed either in these instances :) 👍🏼 —I do not have any other WiFi or Bluetooth devices near the camera so there should not be any interference. Also, baby’s room is no more than 100ft away from where I am with the monitor, which is well under the stairs so distance should also not be a factor. All in all, I have begrudgingly continued to use this because I spent nearly $200 on this after replacing another subpar monitor and have just tried to make it work. I am now the unofficial expert of troubleshooting for leapfrog baby monitors 🫡👍🏼

Keep getting disconnected

Newbs83 on

App when it’s connected is decent. However within the last 3 weeks my wife and I keep getting disconnected from the connection to the camera. Deleted, reinstalled, re-paired multiple times, running into the same issue. If we’d have known this, we may’ve purchased a different system. Very disappointed.

Good but one glaring issue.

Spy3us on

Used the Owlet camera/app for about two years. It was good but the app was buggy and camera quality was subpar. Bought this to try with my second child and the camera quality is really good. App has good functionality and after about a month, I have no big complaints other than the app cannot run in background. Which is absolutely absurd to me. With the Owlet, I could run the app on my phone and go out to work in the yard and hear my son in my headphones while listening to music etc. For this reason, the app is no better than the dedicated monitor, at least for my purposes. Maybe I am missing something but that should be a no-brainer, standard feature for a product like this.

Unbelievably Buggy

TheStarks on

This app has been incredibly buggy for several months. I have to kill and relaunch the app at least twice, usually 4-5 times before I can get the live feed of either of our cameras to work. If I go to another app after that and come back, I almost always have to repeat the relaunch process to get it to work again. The standalone monitor works fine, but we purchased Leapfrog cameras specifically for the benefits of having an app as well, and have been severely disappointed. *Update - I followed the instructions to reset the device and reconnect the cameras, but it did not improve connectivity with the app. The camera feeds are still very slow to load if at all, and I still need to relaunch the app multiple times to get them to work.

Volume control please

MKsteed on

I absolutely love this app however 2 things that would greatly improve it is dark mode for sure. Very bright in the middle of the night. But more importantly for me, volume control. When I open the app to see my daughter on the app, I can lower the volume but there’s no way to make it completely silent (so when I’m trying to get my new baby to sleep and she’s playing loudly I can’t silence it on my phone, only the monitor). Even if my phone is on silent there’s no way to make viewing the camera completely silent. The volume level will stop at the lowest setting but never goes silent. So annoying.

Decent app with shortcomings

Aptapathy on

Usually works. Sometimes buggy and requires a reset. One major gripe I have is even if your volume is all the way down, opening the app and going to a cam automatically sets the volume to like 75%, and prevents you from going down to 0% again while in the app… why? Maybe it’s a safety thing? But I’m trying to check the cam in a quote room with the other baby sleeping and suddenly get blasted with the white noise. I know there is a mute button in the app separate from the system volume but it takes time to get it pressed. Really dumb design. Other issues include no dark mode, so again, I’m in a dark room trying to check the other cam and am blasted with light. Recordings of movement etc are only kept for a few hours so if you want to save a video you better be quick. There has been a bug for months where the app cannot display a degrees sign on the page and has instead used just about every other special character in the ascii alphabet. Like, dumb stuff that should be fixed if they cared.

Disconnects Constantly

SLColo on

We have a two camera setup with this monitor. The camera features are fine and the cameras themselves stay connected to the monitor fine, but the monitor contently disconnects from mobile devices paired with the monitor via WiFi and Leap Frog app. The monitor disconnects daily and usually multiple times a day. Which is super annoying to have to go back to the monitor to pair phone with the QR code. The issue persists with two different iPhone 14, both running iOS 17 so not sure if it's just a phone/OS version thing but experienced the same issues on iOS 16. The other annoying thing when trying to pair both cameras is one camera stays spinning try to connect for a long time and eventually never connects. I have to sign out and back into the app to get both cameras to connect simultaneously. As if the constant disconnecting wasn't annoying enough. I would not recommend this device if connection to the monitor via phone is important to you. Update 11/6/2023: Devolper response was to reset the device and reconnect the cameras and application. After doing this, this solution did not solve the problems stated previously.

It’s okay

Sleeper bird on

I love the detection feature that records small segments of movement or sound. However the clips become unavailable after a few hours. So they are essentially useless if you are trying to track how your baby sleeps through the night.
