LibriVox Audio Books provides unlimited access to over 40,000 audio books. Each audiobook can be streamed over the internet or downloaded for later use. The LibriVox Audio Books app features classic best sellers and out of print treasures from every genre of literature in more than 30 languages.

Audio books from LibriVox are free thanks to the dedicated work of hundreds of volunteers who record, edit and distribute the books. New releases are prepared daily, and the entire catalog spans the breadth of world literature, including novels, history, biography, short stories, poetry and more in both fiction and non-fiction.

The LibriVox AudioBook app makes it easy to search the LibriVox catalog of free audio books. You can browse by title, author or genre, look at new recordings, or search by key word. Because the books are free, you can listen to as much or as little of a book as you like with no cost. The app remembers your position, so you can return to a book later, and includes unlimited bookmarks and a sleep timer for your convenience.

LibriVox

Fantastic when I get to play it. No ads unlike YouTube’s frequent interruptions. HOWEVER when in choosing a file an ad pops up it can just hang there FOREVER!!! I had to delete the app and reinstall. Grrrr

I Wish I Can Delete Adds

I love the app, but adds are annoying, so… I still like the app almost had all my audio books to read. :)

I’ve always liked Librivox. Just the last update seems to have messed with the audio or the app. At the beginning of each chapter, the audio “stutters” like a scratchy cd. I didn’t experience it before the last update. As of may 14, 2021, the latest update doesn’t play the audio when the phone is locked or when i go to other apps. Hope it can be fixed.

Mostly Great Service, But There Are A Few Bugs

I genuinely love that the concept of Librevox exists—I love classics and I love audiobooks, and I am so thrilled to find a service that gives them to me for free. Some of the narrators top the ones in Audible! I’m genuinely so impressed. The issue are record scratch bugs that other people mention: if you pause or skip within an audio file, the audio file kind of starts repeating itself or a continuing but skipping some words. (A note to other users: it generally goes back to normal if I exit and then resume the audio file.) Fixing that bug would be lovely. The search function isn’t perfect. One of the things I love about Librivox is that it gives us an array of readers to choose from, but those versions are sometimes scattered among the search results—occasionally, I can encounter Version #3 long before I find Version #1. It would be great if the different versions/narrators of an audiobook were grouped together so I can quickly compare which I like best. Again, I love the service, and I believe that fixing these 2 things might make a wonderful app even greater! Thank you for your work!

After a minute of playback, it would go back to the beginning. The same goes for the other audiobooks I tried. I figured maybe I have to subscribe so I did the yearly subscription. Oh please don’t make me regret subscribing.

Good app

My only complain is the ui because I’m using it on my iPhone 5s. The margins are way off. But good app nonetheless it’s just that the app’s right margin is horrible on my device haha

Great content, but needs better UI

I love the free audiobooks, just wish it was easier. Some touch targets are very small, no night mode or option to change text sizes.
