Description
Lightme - Lightmeter is a clean, simple to use yet very powerful lightmeter.
It is optimised for an easy one-handed use, both for left-handed and right-handed users, with the main controls within your thumb's reach, without the fatiguing juggling of your precious smartphone.
A core distinguishing feature of Lightme - Lightmeter is that - differently from most of the other apps - it can show multiple combinations of valid settings for aperture and shutterspeed at the same time by working like a - stretched out - old needle and wheel lightmeter. This allows the user to quickly pick the desired settings without having to scroll on a tiny wheel picker.
The app is designed to be welcoming to people who are just starting out, with a simple one-button use. But it offers many useful and advanced features for the more experienced shooters/users:
Continuous metering (by pressing and holding or double tapping the measure button)
Spot metering with a variable zoom (for more precision) which also supports average metering, and a very intuitive implementation of the zone system
Automatic reciprocity failure compensation (for 25+ films, if you see exposure times in red, they are being compensated)
A dedicated pinhole mode with precise exposure times for user defined apertures (multiple apertures at a time), with the possibility of setting a timer (through a shortcut)
Incident light metering with calibration when using the front facing camera
And more ...
It also includes some other features that are enjoyable by any kind of user:
Black and white preview
The ability to use any of the cameras on your smartphone (swipe left/right on the preview)
Multiple presets for your different camera/film/lens setups
Framelines for previewing your shot, before setting up your tripod etc.
A searchable list of useful tips to make better use of the application's potential
A searchable list of more than 70 films to choose from with the possibility of selecting a few favourites
Dark mode support and a useful level of customisation
You can find even more info in the tips inside the app or you can have a look at full user manual by tapping on manual (in the settings)
The app is free in all its many functionalities, but it offers In-App-Purchases in order to support the project.
The only minor perk you can enable only via certain IAPs is the replacement of the Ad button with a label containing the name of your current preset, check under settings -> coffee for more info.
Don't panic though, even if there's an Ad button it doesn't mean I'm going to show you ads. In fact unless you decide to tap on that button I'm never going to show you any. But if you have a few minutes to spare, watching a few of them sure helps keeping this project alive :)

Well designed lightmeter app
The design is clean and intuitive to use. Small additions like the zone system and reciprocity calculator make this app stand out. If you need an app for light metering, look no further.
Amazing but…
Hi! Your App is absolutely amazing, 5 stars, no doubt, but I am really confused about your “in-app-purchases”. Which one do I have to buy to e. g. get rid of the ad-button to show my presets? I like espresso and pizza too but - which one is which? (Excuse me for not using Reddit to send this.)
JUST AMAZING - EVERYTHING YOU NEED.
FIRST TIME WRITING A REVIEW. THIS APP IS INCREDIBLY WELL THOUGHT THROUGH. I VE BEEN LOOKING FOR AN APP WITH EVEN JUST SOME OF THESE FEATURES FOR LIKE EVER. LIGHT METER. CALIBRATABLE INCIDENT METER. SPOTMETER. WITH ZONE SYSTEM SUPPORT AND 18% GRAY OVERLAY. ALSO THE ABILITY TO SEE DIFFERENT FOCAL LENGTHS. ON MY IPHONE 12 I CAN GET A PREVIEW FOR EVERYTHING BETWEEN 16MM AND 143MM. SOMETHING I VE BEEN LOOKING FOR QUITE SOME TIME AS IT SHOULD BE EASY TO INTEGRATE IN AN APP BUT NOWHERE TO BE FOUND ESPECIALLY THIS NICE. ALL IN ALL INCREDIBLE APP!! 11/10.
Sehr gute App zur Belichtungsmessung für die analoge Fotografie
Funktioniert hervorragend bei mir auf dem Ipad Pro 2018. Mit dieser App ist man sehr gut ausgestattet wenn man sich an klassischer Belichtungsmessung nach dem Zonensystem versuchen möchte. Wichtig zu wissen: Die Spotmessung ist nicht wirklich ein präziser Spot, sondern immer noch eine Integralmessung über einen (sehr kleinen) Bereich, der seit dem jüngsten Update aber viel besser dargestellt wird, sodass man sich gut darauf einstellen kann. Absolut lobenswert finde ich das Konzept, dass man freiwillig und selbstbestimmt Werbeanzeigen ansehen kann, um den Autor zu unzerstützen.
Suitable for commercial shooting
I work as a professional photographer and in my free time I enjoy shooting “analog” film. I have tested this app against pro light meters and it seems to deliver correct results. I’m currently using it with my Leica M6 and usually the reading from the camera is consistent with this app. The averaging (spot metering) function of this app also does a great job in difficult light situations. All in all this app is definitely usable even for professional work. So that’s why I “donated” Euro 5,49 and would like to say thank you to the developer.
First impressions
Finally an intuitively and easy to use light metering app. Really cool features are the different film formats and the adjustable focal lenght. Definitely usable single-Handel.
Finally a metering app that does it all
I had to use several apps before because every one did something but no app did it all. This is easily the best one I have found so far =) Keep up with the good work
Everything I could dream of
The app has more features than I could imagine being in an app, and many in depth applications(reciprocity, preview, frame lines...). Highly recommend for all film shooters!
