Amazing edulang game

Ants01au on

I think this could become a genuine competitor to Duolingo. From the outset it is presented more as a game so you’d have to try pretty hard not to understand there has to be some attempt at profit. Most things aren’t free so we need to not whine about this necessity. My questions are does every language have 3,000 words included? Are there plans to add more languages and is it vote based or more what is practical or would realistically be worth making? Some language apps have a bit of a minority language goal so the languages added aren’t always what is expected. In saying that, I think adding Filipino would be a bit of a calling card given it is spoken by millions and the Green Bird promised that one hard and has yet to deliver. Overall, you’ve really hit the nail on the head of your main demographic of learners who desire even more of a gamefied experience. It’s come at a time where many are unhappy with Duolingo’s changing AB groups with slow almost at random release updates. Many are loathing the long repetitious trees with robotic voices. They really destroyed Irish and got rid of perfect natural voices so please try to find decent voices if you do release new languages! I think if you keep steady by releasing content to all parties equally, use good audio, offer some unique languages (already see Canadian French 🇨🇦) and can show what players what they can expect to learn at the end you’ll really grow this app. Even though people like games the other part of this is learning and maybe speaking for myself being an adult but I like to know the boring part of how many words I can learn and where that sits in the CEFR or language proficiency measurements. Loving it and hope to get the lifetime membership next pay!

Good, has issues.

Like it. However, my biggest gripe is the energy system. It lets you play so little. It seems counterintuitive for a learning app to limit how much you can use it that much. It makes it harder to make a habit of playing the app. Though I can understand why you want it: to slow players down and as an incentive to get the paid version. I’d rather the system be based on your lives eg. you have one life a day, you can play until you die.

Fun!

This is a super fun and engaging approach to language learning. It feels like more of a game rather than studying. The only downside is that you have a limited amount of games to play per day, however you can get rid of this by purchasing premium.

Lots of potential

Love the game! Seems like a great way to stay motivated which has always been my biggest struggle. The gameplay is fun and still feels like a game and I am actually learning. Can’t wait to see the future of this game. I came from language simp btw ;)

A reason to learn

Instead of learning for solely the language I can now learn just so I can play the game. It gives good motivation for practicing each day.

Good, can be better

I initially thought the game was a bit childish, after a few days it became almost additive. Certainly a fun way to do flash cards. Been playing daily for a few weeks now, still can’t figure out how to win the Quest and why I have to keep repeating the same adventure over and over again, as no other option appears. Some cards don’t work as advertised. A bit more Help/Tips would be good.

Really Helpful, just a few problems

So, i never wrote reviews for apps, but i felt like i should write one for Lingo Legend. So, it’s SUPER HELPFUL. Like, I’m learning Japanese on Lingo and I’ve memorised Hiragana and Katakana really well so far, it goes at a steady pace, and if you want, you can make it go faster. The concept of the game is really cool, as i find it much more fun to learn in a game, especially battle and rpg-like games. The small dialogue every once in a while with a storyline, and small events like free rewards every now and then are really helpful. Also it’s a really well animated game with beautiful backgrounds and nice music. I also like that there is a leaderboard, which can show the top players of the game. Also, it’s really great how there are no ads! My only complaint would probably be the fact that after a while, the game gives you like 20 energy a day, and usually, the battles take up 10 energy, so you would watch an ad to regain it, but it’s still like, 4 matches a day, and 8 enemies a day, which i was fine with, but recently it’s changed to 15 a day, so i can only play like 2 matches a day with 4 enemies max, which can be quite frustrating to wait a whole day just to complete a path. I do understand how premium gives you unlimited energy, but it still feels like a bit too little energy, even for free. Also, you can only regain energy once a day, and if you accidentally skip the add for the energy, you can’t rewatch it and you miss your free energy. It’s kind of frustrating. I’m not saying you should make the energy all free, as then you’d loose your profit. Maybe just change it back to 20? Also premium is quite expensive, sooo i can’t buy it :( All in all, a really good game, apart from that one thing :) i don’t want to sound extremely negative when I’m saying the flaws in the game, just a small heads up if you want to play Lingo Legends :D
