## Lire Description
Love RSS feeds? So do we!!

RSS feeds are a great way to follow updates on your favorite website. However, some sites set up their feeds to only show a portion of each entry, you know, to get you to click through to their actual website. We find that really annoying, and we're sure you do too.

Which is why, unlike other RSS feed readers, that either push you into a browser (in-app or otherwise), or depend on third party text parsing services and require you to be online to fetch the full text of one article at a time (which makes it no different from having to click/tap through to a website), in lire, you get your favorite RSS feeds as they should've been. You don't need to click through to any website (though, you do still have the option to, if you really wanted). It takes your favorite partial feeds, does its magic, and converts them in to full feeds, so you don't have to click/tap on those annoying 'Read more' or 'Continue reading' links.

Once they're cached, you don't even need to be connected to read your full-text feeds.

Use as a standalone feed reader, sync with iCloud,

or,

sync with any of the several services: Feedly, Feedbin, FeedHQ, The Old Reader, Inoreader, BazQux Reader, Newsblur, Feed Wrangler, FreshRSS, Miniflux, Nextcloud News, Tiny Tiny RSS.

The full text ability and options to designate different views - in-app browser, regular browser, app reader - is something I've never seen before in other rss readers. Works well on a variety of feeds; I'm very impressed.

However, I've noticed an irritating issue with all buttondown email rss feeds.
Virtually every time I fetch (both icloud sync and standalone) it re-fetches previously read articles for buttondown feeds as if they were unread.
As far as I can tell, whenever it does that it's fetching every single item from those feeds anew.

And yes, I can mark all below as read, but having to do that multiple times per day is wearying.
Really hope developer(s) can take a closer look at buttondown.

I’ve been using Reeder on all of my Apple devices, so it’s been a real bummer to not be able to read all of the news on my self-hosted FreshRSS host after I got my shiny new Apple Vision Pro. I gave it a few weeks and there’s still no Reeder option here, so I did a search for “freshrss” to see if any apps claimed support.

This is *not* a native app, but unlike Reeder, it *is* compatible as an iPad app.

Going for 4 stars now because most of what I need out of a reader is here. Deduction of 1 until there’s a native app for the platform.

Great RSS but the widget doesn’t update in the background refresh. I was using Feedly because it has free mode and the widget works but Lire has no ads which would be awesome if the widget would pull updates. I have everything turned on to do it but nothing.

Why have I only just learned about this app?! Having spent only a short while in the app, adding feeds and generally ‘kicking the tires’, oh my goodness what a fantastic app this is. Already used the tip jar. I run my own self hosted RSS aggregator and my goal was always to find a workable full-text rss system. Something that truly provides the articles in full form. I got about 70% close to that goal. But now I’m already thinking that’s going to get torn down in favor of using this app instead. Very well done to the devs. I can only imagine how hard you’ve worked to make something able to pull the full articles. Kudos!

I’ve tried several RSS readers over the years and most of the popular ones included. They’ve all mostly either been missing features, subscriptions based or had performance problems fetching feeds. Lire gets it right and for a reasonable one-time price. The app is visually appealing and it’s functionality is superb. It syncs well with its MAC counterpart as well.

The app works quite well in standalone mode, but it has major problems syncing with iCloud. Each refresh produces a series of iCloud sync errors, sometimes attributed to inability to communicate with a helper application, otherwise not attributed to anything at all.

I self-host a FreshRSS instance on a cloud VM that I connect to over Wireguard, so believe me when I say I am really picky. The lire app is perfect for me. No odious subscription, fine grained control over lots of settings, and really good integration with Google Reader API services. I don't want a lot of frills, I just want the content - that's why I am reading RSS feeds in the first place!  And lire gives it to me. Thanks for the great app!
