Lo-Fi Tape Reviews

Nice sounds but unstable

nemesite on

United Kingdom

As per the title, this app has some nice sounds but it is unreliable in a number of ways. For one, in app mode, there is a constant buzzing sound, and in auv3 mode, I have found that every time I use this plugin in one of my tunes, notes randomly drop out when the track is mixed down. On some occasions, the sounds produced with this don’t play at all. I would therefore exercise caution with this one.

I bought the expansion pack as I initially loved the app, but it’s asking me to pay again to download it on a new iPad. New iPad has exactly the same passwords etc. Nothing has changed apart from the app insisting I pay again. Whenever I press ‘restore purchases ’ it just hangs or crashes. I feel absolutely conned.

Never stop Creating

This app is testament to the beauty of human creativity, how to make something simple and beautiful and not rinse people at the price point. So much garbage on the App Store that’s ridiculously overpriced and not even very good at what it’s supposed to do, with this app you get quality with affordability. As a musician that follows the same ideology it’s heart warming to find a developer following the same ethos. I happily purchased the additional presets within minutes of buying the standard set as I liked it so much. The world needs more of developers like you ! Great work simple and effective delivery no hidden nonsense it just works and sounds cool.

The best budget synth?

I bought this on the back of a YouTube review by The Sound Test Room. I’m so glad I did it is worth every penny. How the developer is selling this for £2.49 I don’t know. It’s better than some synths costing 10 times the price, and that’s from someone who has spent exactly that and more. I look forward to seeing future apps from the developer.

Warm ways, Lo-fi delight

Separate lo-fi effects apps that degrade the sound of other apps have to be adjusted to get the best results, on a per track basis. Here, the instruments are already carefully set for optimum retro goodness. Although they can be further altered and warped, if that is what you want to achieve. Combine this app with an EQ, such as Fab Filter Pro Q3 and you have an absolute winner for anyone making music that requires good old-fashioned warm and slightly worn tones. Also, the price is a gift.

Lovely, lovely Lo-Fi!

110 taped instruments here, like an intentionally badly maintained Mellotron, means warbly choirs, dusty organs, rusty brass, dirty xylos, cracked bells… you get the picture . Warbly, wonky, and wonderful, a complementary set of fx on board… if you like dust with that, you’ll love this. A steal at the price. Great work!

Glad this didn’t disappear forever! It has a lush, haunting quality that I quite like. Get it!

Great Lo Fi Pianos and other instrument Auv3

deleteddddd0989 on

I spoke to the developer about his other excellent app that I purchased, Lo fi piano, and I got this one after. I love this Auv3 because it has many great instruments. This rivals the Audiokit Retro Piano in its amount of samples and sounds you can choose. There are many useful effects like stereo widen. All in all, if you are looking for a lo fi Auv3 this fits the bill and worth every cent. I recommend it, especially for the price and what you can get as IAP if you so wish. Thanks Weston!

Great Expansion.

Really good new sounds and I’d pay for more whenever you decide to add more. Good work.
