Markup Made Simple
Markup R-XP allows stitchers to load any chart in PDF or image form and will magically locate the grids, symbols and colours and then allow them to be marked up on screen. You can even take a photo of a chart and Markup R-XP will find the grid and symbols and allow you to mark it up.
If your chart consists of multiple pages, Markup R-XP will stitch the pages together to make one large chart. This means you can easily see your full markup progress and won’t be held up at page edges.
There are even tools to let you quickly find those final few unmarked symbols across the whole chart.
Extra Help with Tricky Charts
If you have a chart picture which is not completely clear or slightly rotated, you can still use Markup R-XP. The integrated editing tools can be used to assist Markup R-XP to create the perfect grid to fit over your chart and then detect the symbols and colours for you.
Automatic Symbol & Thread Colour Detection
Markup R-XP recognises the symbols in your chart and can tell you how many are stitched and left to stitch. If you chart has a key, Markup R-XP can also automatically determine the thread colour for each symbol. If there is no key, no problem, you can also simply assign up to four thread colours to a symbol.
Built In Shade Cards
Markup your chart using thread colours from DMC, Anchor and Madeira selected from the built-in shade cards.
Keys, Finished Samples and Notes
Multiple Keys can be captured separately and are stored alongside each project for easy referral as you stitch. Likewise, pictures can be captured from your uploaded chart for quick reference whilst markup is underway. There is even a notes section to keep a track of any important details for each project.
Comprehensive Progress & Statistics

This program is amazing! It is so handy! All it takes is a little practise to get used to all the the wonderful features. The tutorials and team are so gracious and helpful. It has made stitching so much more enjoyable being able to zoom in to see the pattern with no eye strain and it’s so fun to monitor progress easily. No more wasting time trying to figure out where I’m up to and no more eye and neck strain trying to read paper patterns. More cross stitch designers need to put their patterns in PDFs so customers can use this app to enjoy more stitching. Congratulations to the creators of this app for this terrific program!
Lifechanging
I was recommended this app via a crossstitch group on Facebook - and it has changed the way I stitch! I love it! It would be amazing if there was a way to track my floss stash, to view the total floss needed across all my projects, or at least to mark off what I have against a chart, as I tend to buy my floss a handful at a time. This would add value, but what it does now it does really well!
Great app
I’ve tried a number of free apps and iBook to track patterns but none compare to this app. This is a great app with excellent, fast response customer service and multiple helpful YouTube video tutorials.
Great app BUT not at increased subscription
I’ve been using this app for over 12 months and have found it great. I was ok with $16.99/year subscription (although when I downloaded it didn’t say that). But I’ve just got the renewal notification and it going up to $29.99. Rip off with that amount of increase. Have a guess who won’t be renewing.
Great customer service
I was recommended this app via my cross stitch facebook group. I travel a lot and I thought referring to an iPad easier and more efficient than multiple sheets of paper on planes trains and hotel rooms. But I stumbled at the first hurdle and had bought a thoroughly unsuitable project pdf to load. But along came the fantastic customer service of James to help me untangle my purchase and get the project loaded ready to start. Markup will help me mark off my project as I go and will save my eyesight by easily magnifying and locating symbols on my iPad. Great app !
Incredibly frustrating
Not worth it. Stick to the old way….print out and highlight. I deleted within hours as it didn’t do what it says it does.
Main mark up function doesn’t work
This app looked really promising, the pattern uploaded fine and it was highlighting symbols and all that, but the main function of marking up the pattern just does not work.
I’ve tried clicking, tapping, dragging… when I hold down for an extended period I get options to markup the entire square, or mark parking, but I’m not able to mark up individual squares.
Disappointing
Best app for Cross Stitch Patterns
Found this app through recommendations on Facebook sites. It has changed the way I cross stitch. It is so easy to track stitches so missing stitches is a thing of the past. Even across multiple pages.
The newly added grid lines makes it easy to highlight blocks of the same colours for stitching.
PDF patterns load easily and the app’s ability to automatically create a key with symbols and colours makes setting up a project a breeze. Also the ability to amend colours for each of the symbols, then view the final coloured marked up pattern makes changing the personalising the product so much easier. I can’t recommend this app highly enough and I’m sure I haven’t discovered half of what it can do.
I don’t mind paying the annual fee, it’s worth it if it helps the developer keep making more improvements to the app.
Doesn’t work
This app doesn’t import symbols at all and then doesn’t load the patterns correctly. It says that you can manually add symbols but then it doesn’t allow you to put in details Or colours. There is no guidance or tutorial. Terrible experience
What has happened to my project that I have been working on for over a year?
Today I have returned to the app to find I can’t open my project and the UI looks different so I assume an upgrade has happened. What am I supposed to do now???
