I signed up and was pleased with the service until I realised I wasn’t getting the promised 12 meals per month. I crunched some numbers and realised I’d only been getting 7 meals with the credits I’d been purchasing. I’ve been trying to cancel my subscription for the last month and it’s impossible. You can’t cancel from the app - only put your account on hold and after the hold period you will be billed again - but must instead send them an email. Problem is they don’t respond to your email and you’ll probably get charged again once your hold runs out. Total scam.
I’ve been using Mealpal on and off for around 2 years now and have found it to be a very good service most of the time. Depending on where you are there may be limited options available but if you’re in a spot with lots of Mealpal shops it’s a great way to discover places you haven’t been to, and also a great way to get a cheap deal. I recently had an issue with charges on my Mealpal account and have to say my customer support experience was perfect. Mealpal support got back to me extremely quickly and completely fixed my issue. Obviously ymmv but my experience was great, big thanks to Thomas!
Go to productreview.com.au and you will see that this business is a total scam. Half of the restaurants they list aren’t even in operation and some restaurants aren’t even set up properly! They make it impossible to cancel your account and take out $100 per month. The meals are NOTHING like what they say on the website and they also cost A LOT more than what they pretend. They are deceptive and dishonest and should be totally shut down. I have disputed all charges with my credit card company and I am getting my moment back. Totally disgusted.
Great concept, but customer service is lacking and they will try and punish you if you cancel or suspend your plan by removing all your credits immediately at the end of your cycle.
After registering credit card they deduct $140 and then offer you #### meals.
Great idea but (in short) meals are limited to certain shops on certain days and portions are smallish. You need to use up most of your meal credits in the month (or the next) otherwise they are forfeited.
MealPal make it intentionally confusing to cancel your plan.
Why would you force the user to update the app only when they’ve reached the pickup/scanning page, rather than when the user is initially putting the order in? This is just stupid, thoughtless design. I’m now trying to download the update on patchy food court internet reception so I can pick up my lunch.
The service is ok but the problem is cancelling the subscription. Any subscription based service that makes it easy to sign up and difficult to cancel is doing something wrong. You need to send an email to cancel your subscription and the way to cancel is hidden in the FAQ section. Not cool. Finally, you need to cancel before 7 business days of your cycle or you will get charged. Would highly recommend updating your subscription policy.
