Mela - Recipe Manager

It’s a great app with very intuitive interface. Importing recipes from external browser or built in works perfect, so good, but… This app is missing one crucial function, the possibility to create an account and share recipes with friends and family within the app. Sync weekly meal plan, grocery shopping list etc with my second half. Right now I have to use yet another app for that. Please, add this function and take it to perfection! So close…

The application is absolutely amazing! The only thing i would like is if it was possible to add you own measurements (eg Swedish “tablespoon” abbreviation msk is not automatically detected). The pricing is also a huge reason why I prefer this over all others. Syncing a few recipes that you infrequently access should never justify a subscription. If you make large additions to the app i will happily pay for a new version though :)

Been looking for an app like Mela for a long time, and it doesn’t disappoint. The automatic recognition and import of recipes from ad-ridden websites is an absolute godsend, and the ability to add RSS Feeds and grocery reminders are a welcome bonus. Worth every penny. Get this app!

As a longtime Reeder user I decided to check out Mela and I am really happy. The UI is gorgeous and it has all the features you need from a recipe keeper. A great purchase.

I am simply blown away by how seamless the user experience is for this app. From scraping recipes from the bowels of a rambling blog post, to the focus mode that helps me organize cooking multiple dishes in real time, to parsing the scans of my paper cookbooks, to automatically creating grocery lists from my recipes, the designers anticipated everything I could want a recipe app to do and executed it flawlessly. I have become an evangelist of this app with coworkers and family and even at parties. People purchase the app by the time I'm done demoing the features. Thanks for working hard to finally solving organization of all my recipes in such a refreshingly user-centric way.

If you want a recipe book app for just you this is definitely it. Personally I landed on this app over other apps like it because it had a great family share feature. Everyone in my house uses Apple devices so no worries about compatibility. Started out great I imported about 400 family recipes my wife inherited. Set her and my two oldest kids up with the paid version. And everything worked great. Anyone who added a recipe to the app was synced with everyone else. Everyone could see the calendar and whoever’s turn to cook just had to look. Then it start to get buggy. First my wife couldn’t add recipes others could see in the list. Then we could see the meal she added to the calendar but not the recipe. This kept degrading over time and now updates from anyone doesn’t sync with each other. Honestly if I didn’t have over a 1000 recipes in here I’d try a different app

Love this app! Browse through your other apps and forget the pop-ups, ads, and other annoyances that are blocking what you’re really after… the recipe. This app cuts through that noise and gives you a clean recipe. Categorizes with your own categories, adjust the recipe size, connect to your grocery list app. It is wonderful and I use it ALL the time. I love to recipe shop, mark it for “Want to Make” and have a fun experimenting recipe weekend. We have some new favorites that I wouldn’t have found without Mela. $5 one time - NO stupid subscription (fastest turn-off ever). Buy it. You’ll probably love it too!

This is so much more cost effective than Pestle. Mela has had a 100% success rate for recognizing recipes on web pages for me. This does everything I need it to. I don’t use in-app timers or exporting ingredients. I also spend no time on TikTok nor Instagram which apparently Pestle can pull from. However Pestle has about a 90% success rate in recognizing recipes on the web. Mela’s layout is attractive, scaling recipes is easy, taking notes or modifying recipes is simple.

I am so glad that I found this app. It is one of the most useful apps I have and I use it constantly. If I see a recipe I like on Instagram I’ll find the poster’s blog and let Mela pull the recipe into the app and add it up my recipe collection. My favorite part is how clean the recipes are once they are pulled from blogs, nothing but the recipe without all the other blathering and no constant resetting/reformatting of the blog site so you’ll see their never-ending ads! I’ve added many of my own recipes so that I have everything in one handy central location. Thanks for such an amazing app!
