Description

The Moog Model 15 App is the first Moog modular synthesizer and synthesis educational tool created exclusively for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.

Each facet of the Moog Model 15 modular synthesizer has been meticulously recreated in this application to ensure the power and transcendent sound quality of each module remains intact. The character, harmonic complexity and mystique of the Moog Model 15’s modules, from the legendary Moog 921–series oscillators and 904A Low Pass Filter, to the coveted 907 Fixed Filter Bank have been painstakingly preserved.

In order to develop the most immersive and expressive modular interface possible, the Model 15 App has been designed utilizing Apple’s new Metal advanced graphics engine. This ensures that all zooming, panning and modular patching throughout the application feels completely natural, something that would have been impossible otherwise.

The Model 15 App features both monophonic and 4-voice polyphonic operation is easily commanded via 4 seamlessly integrated controllers. Simple swipes and taps provide instant access to a traditional Moog keyboard, 1150 ribbon controller, 8-step sequencing arpeggiator and the award-winning Animoog keyboard with 22 built-in scales and polyphonic modulation capabilities.

Also included are extended features which expand the capabilities of the app beyond the traditional offerings of the hardware Moog Model 15. These include total MIDI integration, assignment for external control, use as a MIDI controller, dedicated Audio Bridge and MIDI Bridge modules, looping recorder module with overdubbing, a master ping-pong delay module and a new extension cabinet that includes additional amplifiers and voltage-controlled reversible attenuators that can be used for effects like ring-modulation.

Because the Model 15 App utilizes Apple’s Metal technology, only 64-bit devices are supported. Compatible devices include iPhone 5s or newer, iPod touch 6 or newer, iPad Air or newer, and the iPad Pro.

The Model 15 App requires iOS version 12.4 or later to work.

So good

I feel my brain getting better the more I dive in and figure it out. The sounds are so pure and it actually feels like a creative process. Where art meets science to create happiness.

I have always wanted one of these

Bear Loves Cake on

And now I have one! It may be a little intimidating to new users at first, but there are tutorials for you to follow that show you what each module does. You can get some absolutely wild sounds out of this. You can keep it simple and make a nice clean bass, or dig in there and make a complex sequence. One thing I absolutely LOVE about this, is the fact you can load it up as an effect and use that legendary Low Pass Filter on any synth you have! There’s also a dial in EQ section which I find myself using a lot during sound design, because for some reason nobody else gets it this right. If you’re serious about music, you should get this app. It’s worth it.

Excellent for Professionals on a Budget & Beginners Wanting to Learn

Aussie Mike. on

When I first got this app I was completely new to modular and afraid to dive into it because it looked so complicated( even though it’s not) As a result I left it on the shelf for a few months and used other apps I have instead. I decided to get my feet wet and now a day later I’m making useable sounds that I’ve always wanted from a piece like this. When you get it you will be happy that you have and pleased that you made your purchase. After all… what synthetic musician doesn’t want a classic Moog Model 15!

I don’t know what i’m doing but i know i like it.

ClockworkYokai on

I have played around with enough Digital synths now to know that what i’m hearing come out of this little box of loopy boops activates the brain juice pumps quite effectively. Don’t expect to actually learn how to patch a synth though, you will however will become quite adept at flipping between the excellent pre made patches in all 8 of your saved midi profiles designed to funnel as many different sounds into your skull in the shortest time possible. You’ll have a Moog One by the end of the month so beware.

I love this Synthesiser

I can’t afford the real thing, but I don’t care. This is amazing! The perfect way to learn about modular synthesis and subtractive analog. synthesis in general. It has kept my mind and ears satisfied for nearly two years now. I love it.

Incredible musical instrument

ncoleman2201 on

The Moog Model 15 is an incredible musical instrument in every respect. The sound, performance ability, DAW connectivity, in-built tutorial, app support and fun factor, it ticks all the boxes. After picking my jaw up off the floor after having been blown away by the excellent presets that come with it, I was very keen to see how I could integrate the app into my workflow. *Initially I had been hesitant to embrace iOS in my workflow for a multitude of reasons. I run both hardware and software in a DAW (Ableton) which even at the best of times can be problematic. Throw in an iOS device or two into the equation and more often than not you end up with a recipe for troubleshooting rather than music making! The main obstacle for full integration of iOS has been connectivity (syncing audio and midi) into a DAW host. Apple’s introduction of IDAM in iOS11 however is a game changer and marks the turning point for all iOS music apps. Check it out if you haven’t already. Just like setting up any external synth, I had the Model 15 up and running in Ableton in no time playing back sequences from my current project. Everything on the Model 15 is midi mappable, program changes make it easy to recall my sounds from within Ableton and the ability to share sounds is so useful! I often program sounds on my phone while out of the studio or on the road. I can then quickly share it directly to the iPad I have permanently set up in the studio when I am back. This is such a useful feature. I often find myself wanting to learn more when I play with great sounding instruments and this is definitely the case with the Model 15. Despite having studied electronic music at university and now into my 20th year as a professional musician, patching cables is not really my thing and thus I never wandered down the modular path. The apps in-built tutorial is easy to follow and has encouraged me to dive in a learn more about the process of modular synthesis (without all the physical mess of cables) to further my sound tweaking knowledge. Moog have made the Model 15 a very musician friendly and useable musical instrument for both the beginner and professional. I am an inspired music maker using it, and I can’t ask much more than that. Money very well spent.
