Monitor+

It would be very nice ti be able to record to an external ssd plugged into iPad via a hub along side my camera via usb c. Making an iPad no only a monitor but a recorder simultaneously.

I got this as a backup monitor for my camera but also use it on my iPad as a second monitor for clients so they can see it during interviews etc. 10/10 recommend this 100%!

I have a Canon R8 and this app is brilliant. I’ve plugged my R8 into my iPad Pro with a capture card in-between. (R8 > HDMI > Capture Card > iPad) As I shoot in Clog3, this app is great for monitoring and overlaying the the Canon CLog3 to Rec709 manufacturer LUT. I downloaded knowing that compatibility would be limited as I was using a Canon camera. At most I hoped that it would just allow me to have a larger monitor when filming but being able to use a LUT is a great help. Wish the resolution could go beyond 1080p. Not sure if this is a limitation of the capture card I’m using or the LUT.

Virtually all the features are behind an extortionate £20 paywall. Even the ability to focus remotely!

It doesn’t show camera exposure meter

I use my iPhone 15 Pro as the camera, with HDMI out, into a capture card and into my iPad running this app. It has a few bugs here and there but the functionality is unmatched. It’s very close to a professional camera setup. Just beware the £20 (one-off, thankfully) charge to get the useful features, and maximum resolution of 1080p.

I tried this a few years ago and was frustrated by dropped connections. I gave it another go when I got an A6700 and it’s brilliant when using the 5ghz wi-fi or hard wired through USB/lightning. Not sure if I’d trust it for pro work but this has all the features of a decent field monitor without having to lug around a load of extra kit. It even has features like touch to focus and track that are only just being introduced to external monitors. Support were quick to answer questions about loading custom LUTs. This is without doubt the best value camera accessory ever and a no brainer for video if you own a late Sony.

Works great on my FX3. But now this camera has timecode, can we get it on Monitor +?

Doesn’t work with A7IV and A7S3. “Unable to connect” (iPhone 12 Pro Max iOS 16.2)

I now use Monitor+ via a Lightning camera adaptor to usb on my A74 and there is no lag or hang ups. Awesome for video shooting.
