I’ve used many and most of the free ones are superb. MUBI is an app that’s curated and showcases features and shorts from around the world and so many voices. If you love movies and are tired of the same old things then this is the one for you so many great films and the fact keeps you informed of when titles are coming and going is a marvel!
Refreshingly distinctive and different take on identity, belonging and place; and how they mesh or do not.
I’m not sure who’s in charge of Mubi’s film selection lately, but ever since it changed its platform of a film a day, it really doesn’t feel like it once did. At risk of sounding too narrow minded, it feels like mubi's spectrum of films has become too niche. I hope they manage to find the balance as they once had. I enjoyed it when there was a real variety not just loads of liberal alternative directionless films.

MUBI provides an excellent service offering up films that would otherwise not make it to the mainstream streaming services. The quality is generally excellent as well. The curation includes retrospectives and helpful notes to contextualize the films.

If you’re into cinema as world art, this is the place where to be. It offers a curated selection of new and old movies, shorts, animation and documentaries from all major film festivals around the world. The app is essential and easy to navigate, you can download movies for your flights, and even send them as a gift for a free watch to your friends. I’ve been a subscriber for almost 10 years now and I’m very happy.
