I have a love/ hate relationship with this app and the muse device. I have so much to say, that I’ll keep it brief. I love that the previous version of the app gives (apparently real time) feedback via wonderfully resonant sound and visuals of my heartbeat and presence. It is helping me listen to my heart and strengthen my presence. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. It would also be helpful to have; deeper understanding what the sounds mean, to be able to keep the visuals from sleeping, to set the breath pacer to my preferred pace or for it give real time metrics showing what my breathing rate is. I hate that the update has lost these features entirely, but will keep the old version on my iPad as long as possible. I have other feedback, but the main thing is that the s sensor can’t read my temple data because.. I have hair there! I have to fiddle around with wetting the sensors and frankly, I give up. Luckily, the old version of the app is only using the forehead sensor. This technology is nearly transformational.
Basically you have a few meditation included, very few. The majority need a pay subscription which is imho high ... for what you get, even with the reial 9.99 a year. The thing that annoy me the most is you need to get a pay account for anybody that use Band, no matter if you buy the band, and use the apl with same family account. Overall, quite disappointed, great potentiality but wasted. Why throwing money with reviewers (get a tour on Youtube to get an idea) and being so miserly and asking every single member of the family that want to try the Band (purchased) for a pay subscription. With this model, I am not forseeing a bright future for the Band, and this is a pity. EDIT (based on dev reply). As I wrote, the free meditarion are few, very few. The result using the free app? They are not engaging, the band after few days is started to collect dust due to lack of use. Again, the policy of the pay meditation is a big turn down. I myself started to regred purchasing the band, and it is a pity due to the great potentials.
Find the Muse S is an awesome bit of kit and loving the app content. Would be great if you could see real-time feedback with brainwave bands as I’d love to use it with clients.
I’ve recently bought muse 2 and it seems to work but the app is disappointing. As someone interested in neuroscience, I hoped to see more raw data such as brain waves and patterns etc but it only shows you a very limited chart with active, neutral and calm as parameters. It would be useful to know more detailed data from the actual EEG readings.
Many thanks for taking the time to respond to my feedback. I’ve had a bit of time to get used to the update now and do like a lot of the new features, e.g. good to see all result charts on mind, heartbeat etc no matter what type of meditation chosen. It would still be handy to see when I get birds on the mind chart rather than just the total though. Also in the biofeedback section where you can play your own content it would be good to still be able to set the timer for the length of session wanted rather than it being locked in at 30 minutes.
So many issues with the new design that may lead me to stop using the device. If I choose a body mediation why does it now require full calibration? when the signal from the ear sensors disappears the app makes a horrendous loud noise to let me know and asks if I want to ignore (yes) before allowing me to return to my session. The screen off change is annoying. If I’m doing a long session and want to see how far along I am if I ‘wake’ momentarily then I need to unlock the phone to check and then the timing indicator is too small to see without my glasses. And then there’s the streak splash screen that yells at me at the end of the session. I don’t need to know how long my streak has been when I’ve quite literally just finished sitting as this has no bearing on my immediate session or feelings afterwards. I don’t know what new features have been included under the hood but my user experience has gone in entirely the wrong direction and it is honestly getting in the way of my enjoying my sessions. Sorry, but I was a quite happy user before this upgrade.
Apart from some hiccups getting started with fitting the pod to the band correctly so the sensors all work- customer service were very helpful- it's great I find it calming just to put it on, and then to tap and go straight into a meditation. After few times I found myself looking forward to it and excited about my progress. I recommend it.
The headband makes it really nice to have direct feedback on how your meditation is going. Also, I really like some of the meditations with the drum beats and learning to get in tune with your heartbeat.
