This is just as if I am using The website but not on my browser. Everything is the same as you would get if you were to login from a browser. The notification system and UI is not even optimised for mobile. Whats the point of this app is beyond my understanding. An UX/UI designer is not that expensive these days, if you can’t find any let me know I’ll put up a group for you. Been using MAL for a long time, but this app is quite not what I hoped for.
Better off using the website , this app has been out for years and is still extremely buggy it will even crash from simply adding a show to your list
Website is easier to use and more efficient. App has loads of bugs and most features take you to the website anyways
This app doesn’t work well. I can’t even comment on posts anymore and get a ‘connection error’ message every time. Also the UI is just really frustrating and always has to send you to a different site for some reason. Also some features are locked behind certain devices for no reason. Like you can’t write reviews on mobile which makes no sense. There’s just so many frustrating features like not being able to delete comments and the app is down half the time. This app is stuck in the early 2000s it needs an overhaul
I love this app because it’s quite hard to access the full site on a phone (it’s a bit too small for my terrible eyesight!) so it’s really handy! My only problem with it (and why I’ve five 4 instead of 5 stars) is that if I close the app and then open it again a short time later it gets stuck on the blue opening screen.
Very basic app. If you click on things to look into more detail it just takes you to the website. It’s nice if you just want to update something quickly.
I mean if I want to toggle on “rewatch” on my phone, i need to open in safari -> request desktop website -> edit. Or you can just add a simple toggle in the app. I think that’ll be great.
When adding some anime on list for the first time and have to put the progress ep rather than just being able to swipe left for the the number of ep make it type able too cuz it takes too long to swipe for big anime like one piece. My experience: was tryna add one piece which I’m almost up to date and was putting on hold but I gave up cuz it has over 1000 ep. Why so much trouble just to add 1 anime on the list. I recently got the app and I’m surprised how come the developers never thought of this simple thing.
The app works pretty well outside of the website redirects, but the ads in search need to be cleaned up a little bit. I know the app is 17+ because of the mature anime/manga cataloguing, but, there should still be no reason for pornographic/scammy ads. A ad filter would go a long way for this app. If I can’t block ads, then make the ads sfw, otherwise I’ll use the website. I want to be able to open this app in less private settings. edit: WHY did you add ads to the home page???? Now it’s basically unusable with your current ad policy. PLEASE fix it.
An anime list that needs not do more. Good for keeping track of anime. Also has manga. No international media but that’s fine. Some good tabs in command bar for quick access. Able to filter list unlike mobile website Major issue: Inefficient personal list. Editing an entry on the personal list causes list to refresh and send the user to the top of the list, combined with app needing to refresh to get extra entries for long personal lists each time the list refreshes from updated entries, causes the list to be very time-consuming to update multiple entries. Personal issues with app: Command bar. Home page should be titled discussion page, discussion page titled club page, and Discover is more suitable landing page than Home. Switching from anime to manga. Unclear buttons, should be top centre in place of logo such as swapping ‘[A] [M] [MAL logo]’, or creative pun ‘(MAL) (MML)’ or ‘My (Anime) (Manga) List’ where () denotes a button Overall good app to keep track of anime watched
