Love the app with the good overview and the cheap conversion rates. 👏 way better than traditional banks and their difficult e-banking solutions. Money is sent via Wise and arrives within minutes on my Revolut!

With neon you have your account on your smartphone. Always at your fingertips. Transferring money has never been easier. You always have an overview of your income and expenses. And with the neon Mastercard®, you can pay worldwide and online without fees and exchange rate surcharges.
You can choose from 3 accounts:
• neon free: the everyday account with zero base fees
• neon green: The everyday account with an impact on the future
• neon metal: the unique account with exclusive insurance packages
Are you ready for neon? Your part of the account opening in less than 10 minutes simply via smartphone, completely paperless. Download the app, enter your personal info and have your ID ready for the identification (photo-ID/video call). Afterwards, we need 2-3 working days to check and activate your account. Then you are ready to go. You will receive your card by snail mail within 7 working days.
Once you’ve opened your account, you will directly benefit from various neon features. Everyday account functions such as domestic and international transfers are waiting for you, you can upload and scan your QR bills, divide your money with our Spaces, invest in the most traded Swiss and international shares as well as ETFs, set up eBills and much more. All this at the best conditions – without hidden fees. And we’re always adding new features.
It's obvious, but we'll point it out anyway: your money is safe. You decide how you want to log in: with a personal login code, fingerprint or Face ID. Only you can authorize payments from your activated device, with a separate transaction PIN. And because your account is held at Hypothekarbank Lenzburg, it's protected by Swiss deposit insurance up to 100’000 CHF. Just like any other Swiss bank. Your data remains in Switzerland.
All you need to open a neon account is a permanent Swiss residence, exclusive tax liability in Switzerland as well as a Swiss passport/ID or a residence permit B or C for non-Swiss citizens (we can already evaluate passports of over 70 countries). Deceiving process
The process of creating an account is advertised as fast and easy. However, the underlying bank behind the online option still may require you to *physically* send a printed document in a *physical* letter by mail to confirm something you have ALREADY indicated while creating your account, that is, being liable of paying taxes in the US. While creating the account, you are prompted to select whether or not you pay taxes in the US. Me, only liable for taxes in SWITZERLAND, I indicated it, and a day after going through the account creation process I receive an email saying I need to mail them a document saying I only pay taxes in Switzerland. If this were to be submitted online, that’d be fine, but I actually have to mail it. It is very frustrating that this is going to delay my account creation process by several days.
Happy with the account, the app is improving
I was happy with the account itself although I have some problems with the PINs, and set up, but despite so far so good. At the beginning the app has less features and was more buggy but is improving fast and now is more stable and intuitive. The new feature ‘spaces’ is just what I need so, is super good.
Easy to use
I recommend this online bank, is easy and fast working. The disadvantage could be that it doesn’t support twint or a credit card/savings account but for the rest I am satisfied!
