You can use nightguard to submit your bg values to the Apple HealthKit. This is disabled by default but can
be enabled in the nightguard app.
Nightguard is an app that displays your blood glucose values from the Nightscout backend.
It is a native iOS App with support for the Apple Watch.
Features are:
- Define a range of acceptable blood glucose values.
- Whenever your values are out of range you will be alerted.
- You can snooze the alerts all the time and for a defined time period.
- You can reactivate the alerts all the time.
- You can activate alerts if the values are rising or falling too fast.
- The app displays yesterdays values as an overlay chart. This way you have a hint about how your values could behave in the future.
- Tune your basal rates with the statistics function to overlay different days
- Sync your bg values to HealthKit (optional)
For the alarms to work the app has to be active. So you can enable a screen lock that keeps the app running all night long.
Have a look at www.nightscout.info for more information about how to setup your own Nightscout backend.

nightguard FAQ
Is nightguard free?
Yes, nightguard is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is nightguard legit?
🤔 The nightguard app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
This is a great app. It presents the data on phone in a clear and quick-updating interface.
If I had 2 wishes they would be:
1. A watch complication displaying the daily graph
2 consistent and configurable update intervals for watch complications and widgets…. Sometimes they update every few minutes and other times they go 25+ minutes.
Wish Graph Was Useful
Not possible to view certain time frames or data points on the graph. It’s just for visuals. Otherwise love it but please let us see what values are on the graph when choosing a point.
Can’t Figure out Missed Readings
I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong but Nightguard is only picking up about half of my Dexcom readings despite Nightscout and Dexcom both working continuously. Today so far with all apps open and active all day, only 76/150 readings shown. This doesn’t help me see my correct percentage in range for the day (one primary reason I prefer this to my DIY Loop screen). I wish I could figure out what the issue is.
I think it needs update.
Guys, can you update the app? It’s not catching my blood sugar correctly from my sensor.
Great...if it worked
Great app by itself and for a variety of devices. However, the watch companion app is useless as it enters into a crash-loop most of the time.
Good app
God to use for iwatch interface. Has not updated for several weeks. Needs to be addressed
URL Format
It is saying the URL format is incorrect when I have only copied and pasted the URL.
Stopped working
Have used for several months. Would give 4/5 but have had stoppage issues several times. Have been able to correct, has not updated in over a week and can not correct it. Loved the convenience of using it with Gluroo to correct to the iWatch to have quick access to my reading.
Reading stuck
Working well for 2 days on iPhone then reading won’t change, its showing reading -1200 min. Gluroo is working fine. Turned the phone on and off, uninstalled the app 3 times still showing the same reading. Can anyone help?
Updated: Thank you for the response. I have waited 20+ hours until the countdown minutes reached 0 then my Apple Watch gave the same readings as Gluroo but on my iPhone the readings wouldn’t change, still counting +1, +2, +3, … minutes for a while (30+ minutes ) then everything seems to reset. Now everything matches and working great. Thank you. (FYI: Could the problem come from forwarding the time on my iPhone? I have forwarded it for 24 hours and then changed back to automatic for a few times to do something before this problem occurs)
Doesn’t work
No matter what you put into this app it won’t connect.
