You can use nightguard to submit your bg values to the Apple HealthKit. This is disabled by default but can
be enabled in the nightguard app.
Nightguard is an app that displays your blood glucose values from the Nightscout backend.
It is a native iOS App with support for the Apple Watch.
Features are:
- Define a range of acceptable blood glucose values.
- Whenever your values are out of range you will be alerted.
- You can snooze the alerts all the time and for a defined time period.
- You can reactivate the alerts all the time.
- You can activate alerts if the values are rising or falling too fast.
- The app displays yesterdays values as an overlay chart. This way you have a hint about how your values could behave in the future.
- Tune your basal rates with the statistics function to overlay different days
- Sync your bg values to HealthKit (optional)
For the alarms to work the app has to be active. So you can enable a screen lock that keeps the app running all night long.
Have a look at www.nightscout.info for more information about how to setup your own Nightscout backend.

Apple Watch series 9 problem.
I was very happy with the app. However after only few days of using it on my Apple Watch, the complications stopped showing the informations only “??” and now the whole app is not working on Watch. When I try to open it is closing suddenly after few seconds. Hope the bags will be fixed with the next update. As this app is the life changer for all ppl with Type 1 Diabetes.
Great idea but….
Regardless of what I do I can’t get the screen to display the graph plot of my BG. It will only display my current BG at the top of the screen.
Backward compatibility
This was a great app but I have a series 3 watch with iOS 8.8.1 so not longer works for me (needs iOS 9 or later). Is there a way to send me the older version of the app that works with older watch iOS?
No longer any good (used to be great)
Used to be a good app. Recently moved over to nightscout pro for ease and now nothing works. The graphs dont show on the app or watch. I dont have any data to view in landscape mode. The watch app can no longer be shown in a large complication slot (WHY…. This was the best feature, having the last three values with trending arrows) and there doesnt appear to be a nightmode screen like the apps screenshots show you there is.
Apple Watch App functioning differently on Series 8
I’ve just upgraded Watch from Series 4 to Series 8 and the app doesn’t seem to refresh as quickly on the newer watch, that chart/graph also doesn’t show. Are these known bugs?
Amazing
I can monitor my son’s glucose levels from wherever I am, and alarms notify me if he is going low or high.
Gives me such peace of mind
Just gets better!
I’ve used this app for years now and it just keeps on getting better. I am loving the new night mode and the new features for keeping track of ‘cage’ etc. keep up the good work
This is now an amazing app
I tried it a while ago and it was ok. But the functionality that’s been added recently is amazing.
Thank you!
Recent Update - 01/12/2020
A great app. All the most recent incremental updates have seen small but welcome additions.
However, updated the App this morning at 07.30am, the graph both on the iWatch, S4 and iPhone 11 Pro have stopped functioning. Both stopped at 07.30am. 🤔
The readings are showing at only 35% presently.
However, the BG indicator is showing correct value, but needs refreshed more often to ensure it is in sync with Spike.
Possible issue to investigate?
Apple watch
Give the ability to have a sundial complication display. Cannot say how useful that is.
The iphone app has predicted lows - fab.
