DOWNLOADING THE TOURS
It’s important that you download the tours (preferably in wifi) before you go. Make sure the tour is completely downloaded and you’ll have no problem using the tours offline.
BATTERY USAGE
The app uses your GPS only when necessary. Please remember that continual use of your GPS can dramatically deplete your battery. Be sure to pack a car charger for your tour.
IPAD NOTICE
You can use an iPad to take the tour, however, wifi-only iPads without GPS capability will not work.

Sorry, but dong the tour in the exact sequence and direction is pathetic!
The fact the app doesn’t allow you to jump in and out of any location in any direction is cheap! The fact that it costs over $29 USD for each person for the Oahu bundle certainly is NOT cheap!
How difficult could it have been to tag every location with GPS coordinates and then play the audio when you are in the area irrespective of what sequence you travel in. It’s like the developer thought the audio was on an old cassette tape and skipping back and forward wasn’t going to be possible.
Unfortunately I wasted my money.

Awesome concept, great experience. Loved listening to the Shaka Guide for our trip to the North Shore. So many great little stops on the way, and lots of info in a light and happy way to listen to.
The musical interludes between the narration was fun and kept the trip enjoyable.
Will be using many more trips on our next visit ❤️

This app is a gem!! We found this through TripAdvisor and it was awesome. We can certainly drive around the Islands of Hawaii ourselves but this app surely made my drive more enjoyable. The guide was very entertaining and we learned great stories and tips along the way.
Because it’s using GPS location and mapping, making it Apple Car Play compatible will be a great benefit.

We were tossing up doing an organised tour and decided to rent a car and use the Shaka Oahu tour app instead so that we could stop where and when we wanted. We did the Circle Island tour.
It was a great decision. The app worked brilliantly and pointed out so many places/highlights/tips for parking. The driving instructions were really good and the narration was really insightful, enjoyable and at times funny which our kids loved. Im sure we learnt more and saw more than we would have on a tour. And being able to make our own decisions and do it our our own pace was so good.
Highlights...seeing green sea turtles and Matsumoto’s Shave ice.

Downloaded the circle island tour of Oahu and it kept us entertained all day, we stopped at interesting places we would have otherwise missed, learnt about Hawaiian history and culture and where the clean restrooms are! Can’t say enough nice things - starting at the temple for the first stop put us in the right mood for the day driving on the “wrong” side of the road for the first time
