Description

Pixaki is the best pixel art app for iPad. It packs a whole load of features into a clean, modern interface, and it works great with Apple Pencil. So now you can make game sprites on the couch, animated backgrounds on your commute, or music videos in the park.

DRAWING
• Pixel perfect painting mode automatically removes double pixels when doing line art.
• Round, square, and matrix dither brushes.
• Line tool, which can be locked to isometric angles.
• Rectangle and ellipse tools.

LAYERS OF ANIMATION
• Layers are shared across the whole project, which means every layer has its own timeline.
• Static image layers for background and foreground elements that are the same on every frame.
• 18 layer blend modes.
• Rename layers.
• Reorder layers and frames by using drag and drop.
• Scrubbable timeline.
• Advanced onion skin options.
• Select multiple layers or frames at once to quickly make bulk adjustments.
• Use high resolution reference layers to pixel over your sketches and photos.

COLOUR
• Four colour selection modes: a square picker with an infinitely scrolling hue slider, sliders for HSB and RGB, hex code input, and the project palette.
• Eyedropper to sample any colour from the canvas.
• Bucket fill, with contiguous or discontiguous options.
• Colour replace across the whole project.

SELECTION
• Freehand, rectangular, and colour selection.
• Use the active selection as a mask.
• Cut or copy the selected pixels and paste them to any app that supports pasting images.

TRANSFORM
• Move without needing to select. Position the image on or off the canvas without clipping.
• Scale uniformly up and down, or squash and stretch.
• Rotate by any angle.
• Flip horizontally and vertically.

IMPORT & EXPORT
• Import any static image, or a GIF.
• Import and export Aseprite documents (requires iPadOS 13 ore newer).
• Import and export Photoshop documents (PSDs).
• Use magnification when sharing to upscale without the results looking blurry.
• Export as a single image or image sequence as PNG, TIFF, or JPEG-2000.
• Export animated images as GIF or APNG.
• Export QuickTime movies with H264 or HEVC codecs.
• Export as a sprite sheet, with configurable columns.

Amazing Pixel Art App

kaio89 on

This is the definite app for creating pixel art on the iPad, for both beginners and professionals. I’m using it for developing an indie game, and moved the whole asset creation process over to my iPad.

Very good

Pexer__ on

It’s really good. I use it really often and it works perfectly. It doesn’t has as many features as other apps but I really like that. It is not too overwhelming.

Pleeaassseeee let us mark areas for loops

ardicilliq on

This app is great, I think I already left a review on one of the previous versions, this app needs to let u loop a specific number of frames, or to somehow allow you to name sections, this would help so much with animations, the current process feels incomplete T.T Still thanks for your work

Very powerful tool for pixel artists

Isaak-2 on

Has many great features and is easy to handle. The design is dark and minimalistic, which is ideal for art imo. I can really recommend this app.

Great tool

Thank you for adding blend modes and now alpha lock! Its nice that you implement user feedback.

Almost perfect

ShadeTroniX on

Over time this app added almost every feature I was looking for, now the only thing that is missing is a opacity slider for the brush. Please please please add one ^^

Amazing

max789 on

very good program would be desirable clipping masks and reference levels as well as an outline function like aseprite :)

Good

SlapSlapYY on

Good but quite expensive for the state that it‘s in. Especially selections are a little weird, scaling in one direction doesn't really seem to work correctly, undo‘s tend to freeze it up sometimes; so bad even content can get lost. Layer groups don‘t exist. Color replacement with the eraser doesn’t seem to exist. Etc. Also tiling would be nice, but given that *this* is already version 4, I’d suspect that big features like that will only be released with new separate versions for additional cash grab. I have not explored animation.

Good pixelart tool with annoying bugs

pokerflat84 on

It’s a good and simplistic app to draw pixelart, but in this version there are annoying bugs with the layers and the animation frames at the moment. I hope the developers will fix this soon.

Best Pixel Art App on iPad

BradSalter on

Well designed pixel art app with great UI. Please add light and dark shading as well as a tiling feature. These are the only two things that keep me going back to my computer to finish the work.
