Playground Sessions For Piano

The video lessons abruptly stop playing part way through. I am experiencing this on both the iPad app and the Mac desktop. Zero response from customer services. Suggested troubleshooting steps on the forums did not work. I have limited time to spend on practicing as it is, I don’t want to have to waste it troubleshooting bug ridden and expensive apps.

This app is made by musicians for people who want to learn piano. What i like is the simplicity of the interface and structured learning. I also like custom options for sheet music (note numbers, custom play speed, etc…) this is something that flowkey is lacking. The sheet music itself is well presented and looks like sheet music you can buy in shop. Good variety of music in the library, i hope this app improves further from its current version as i am really enjoying it. 🎹🎼🎶😄

If you seriously want to learn the piano this is by far the best app. The new version is far more user friendly than previous version. Especially enjoy learning from piano masters like Mike Garson Puts a new slant on playing the tunes I enjoy from rock/pop/classic Have noted a vast improvement and enjoyment in playing

Today I’ve just returned to the you’re app after a long break. I’m a beginner to intermediate, quite mature in age, with virtually no technology skills. After only a few minutes I was back practicing with the video supported lessons. Amazing, I’d forgotten how user friendly it all is. Thank you. Stuart Houghton UK

At first I was quite impressed with this app/website and everything. As a complete beginner I did learn quite quickly and I thought the gamification was great. HOWEVER if you are really serious about learning the piano and really want to learn to play full versions of songs I highly recommend an alternative service such as Pianote. My main bugbear with Playground sessions that they don’t openly tell you is that many of the songs aren’t the original compositions, but arrangements of those songs. The reason they do this is because these songs are a higher level than Playground will teach you. That was the deal breaker for me. In short, if you want to have some fun and learn a few pieces that will impress your uninitiated non-musical friends then I can recommend Playground Sessions. If you want to learn piano seriously and become a well rounded capable pianist use Pianote.

Great app Just needs all the features from the desktop version now!

Total improvement on the original app, more user friendly and it feels like it was written for IOS rather than just cobbled together. Lessens are good and you can alter the size of the scrolling sheet music to suit your vision. Only criticism at the minute is having to sign into the playground site to get new courses and songs, would feel more streamlined if you could do this in the app. But apart from that 100% better than the previous version and the reason I have started using this app once more.

I’ve tried a lot of piano tutor apps in my first year of playing. This was already by far the best in terms of getting the balance between learning and fun exactly right. I’ve progressed at what I consider a decent rate but I feel that I’m finally achieving a solid foundation. The IPAD app definitely had a few annoying issues compared to the PC version but these have all been ironed out, which is fantastic. Add in the huge number of supporting video lessons and discussions on YouTube and for me Playground Sessions provides everything I need to continue improving and learning a huge variety of songs and styles. Simply Brilliant - massive thanks for the update.

Definitely the best means to learn the piano with a vast range of lessons to perform. The app seriously requires updating of the midi connection as nothing is ever detected when using my iPad Pro 12.9 4th generation. If run on a PC all operate perfectly.

The course is mostly well designed, although some of the boot camp lessons seem to go back over old ground. The app is quite basic though. The list of lessons always scrolls to the top, so when you’re a good way into the course, you have to keep manually scrolling down. There are lots of improvements that ought to be quite easy to implement, but the main omission is the lack of ability to loop a section of the song or lesson, so you always have to play from the start. Sadly, development of new features does not appear to be on the agenda.
