Pocket Beacon

I love Beacon as a concept and I love the content, but pleaseeeee make a option to stay logged in, or at the very least have a “remember me” box that we can check. Its really annoying to log in every single time!! Thank you for all you do 🫶

App works well. Amazing content of course. With all my travel, the option to download videos would be amazing. I fly all the time and would love to catch up on CR without paying for in flight WiFi ;-)

As far as content goes, this app has that. That was never going to be an issue for this platform. The problems I have had involve the delay in ability to stream live episodes. They release as on-demand and ad free, however they take about 6-10 minutes after the twitch streams start on the same night. As for playback features, the app suffers from the inability to fill/zoom/adjust screen size in any way, however, PiP mode works well. I have to same issue on other apps when listening at 1.5-2x speed where the playback feed will eventually lag and restart all the way back to the beginning of the playback speed initialization. This may be a software or app bug that needs an OS patch. The lack of integration with third party apps used for user verification when logging in is also suffering from poor user experience. When you are not using the app it will log you out and when you come back on it will take you to another app or browser to log in. This is tedious and not user friendly. Overall, the loading screens, while minimalistic, are rather boring and excessive. If there are going to be several loading screens between logging in, selecting content, and loading content episodes or features, maybe don’t have them take up the entire screen or page. It feels like looking at a blank screen for 45 seconds before even seeing the content you are trying to watch. Make it more interactive or interesting to look at, or even content suggestions.

Echoing what all other reviews said. I receive quite a few errors that cause me to close out the app. Needs background play really badly. The timestamps for when I stop watching are more than often out of whack and I have to scroll to figure out where I actually left off. Happy to support beacon in its infancy but these things are critical and keeping me from cancelling my YouTube subscription, which I so badly want to do.

Love that beacon has been updated. Picture in picture is essential, and despite how long it took, I’m happy beacon is evolving and making ever more worth the money. It’s by no means perfect (the periodic logouts come to mind), but there are signs that it will only improve, and I trust the developers and the cast to make it what it needs to be

In short it lacks all the features of a modern video streaming app and constantly loses my progress listening/watching content. Love the content but it makes it such a bad experience that I don’t want to use it.

I’ve been a long-time fan and supporter of Critical Role, and was extremely excited when Beacon was released! the app has been a fantastic way to access the content I love. However, I’ve run into a few issues that have made the experience a bit frustrating. 1. Frequent Sign-Outs: The app signs me out almost every time I open it, forcing me to sign back in before I can watch anything. The process takes several minutes, which really disrupts the flow. For instance, I was watching Episode 111 of Campaign 3, and by the end of it, I was logged out and had to sign in again—even though I had just done so three hours earlier. 2. Slow Navigation: Moving between different series or episodes is incredibly slow. For example, trying to switch from The Mighty Nein to Bells Hells can take over five minutes to load, which leads me to opt for YouTube when the content is available there. I initially thought it might be my internet connection, but the website works just fine, and these issues seem to be specific to the app. I’d love to see improvements in these areas to make the app experience smoother and more enjoyable

I got the free trial after seeing some positive reviews- and it’s true! The things Beacon had been missing are here like Picture in Picture, larger captions, being able to listen with the screen off, etc etc. App is usable now! Only been using for a bit and so far no hiccups or glitches but will update if they spring up during my free trial this week.

It never stays logged in and gets hung on login every time.

App is pretty near perfect. Keeps where you are in the episode. Organized in a great way to find what you’re looking for. Pip now available. Subtitles are mostly good. Sometimes they glitch but it’s minor.
