As A Professional User…

I have tried every LiDAR Scanner that was ever added to the App Store (including buying and 3D printing the mirror device for the awesome-but-now-defunct ‘Scandy App’) and Polycam is the best 3D space, 3D Room and 3D item scanning software I’ve used. Practical Use Cases… I use this app to make money, from scanning restaurants and rooms to later double check my measurements for the custom (to the mm) product that I am selling that can’t be cut-down or modified to fit if it is manufactured incorrectly. A couple of times my Polycam downloads have saved me from missing something from. The dot cloud lets me check measurements to the mm in SketchUp alongside my design… as well as I get to use the scanning info as a walkthrough or I can show the client what the final product will look like. Cool huh?

Why do I need to upload my scans

StellarTee on

Australia

I just want to share it locally. I’ve always been able to do this. Why do we now need to upload scans (which can contain SO much personal data and information) to your servers? Also why was I automatically opted in to have my scans train your AI? And why does this need to be turned off on the website? Should have never invested in this app. Just go with the alternatives. There’s scans in here that I’ll never get thanks to this predatory move. Oh hell no. I just tapped share and instead of it asking me to upload it just uploaded my scan automatically. What is wrong with you
